  1. Not sure if this already has been posted or not, but check out Apple's new HQ: Pretty amazing.
  2. You're that guy who when asked what he would do for a million dollars would answer "as little as I had to" =) Wow, a million bucks seems so trivial since the days of Breakfast Club. Ha! There's definitely a lot I would do, but none of them is "making macro predictions" ;)
  3. I wish I could play, but I have no idea where the economy will be 12 months from now. That's why I try to buy businesses that should do well over time regardless..

GOOG. I'd be curious to hear more about that one..
  5. I wonder how often this happens. What you just described is similar to how I would describe what happened to EBIX a few months ago (with a few difference)...
  6. http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=glidefoundation Who here has really deep pockets? Maybe you could bring me along? ;D
  7. I received my copy in the mail today! Yay!
  8. Did you just call me a dbag? That's not nice, man... :P ;)
  9. I think (hope!) he was joking ;D
  10. That's an interesting idea, but I fear changing a huge company's culture is a lot harder than most would think, and most would think it very hard. Buffett shaped Berkshire into what it is pretty much from the start. Steering Microsoft in a totally different direction now that it is this big is something else... Would be great if they could pull it off, though, but who here thinks Ballmer could do it? And Gates won't leave his Foundation.. But I don't think they can pull it off, so it's a moot point. I'd rather see buybacks when shares are priced low and dividends (eve with tax hit) when not.
  11. Thanks, that was a good read. Strange that it says 'confidential' in the bottom left yet it's available publicly on their site... ???

Microsoft has received five times more income from Android than from Windows Phone http://www.asymco.com/2011/05/27/microsoft-has-received-five-times-more-income-from-android-than-from-windows-phone/
  13. Good post. I don't know much about Overstock, so I can't answer your questions. But another possibility is for Amazon to buy Overstock. That's what they did with Zappos.
  14. Thanks for creating this thread. Good idea!
  15. Well, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. This probably doesn't scale to the whole forum, but I just called and spoke to a very nice lady who said she'd put a copy in the mail for me. I'm very excited to finally get my hands on this book! Cheers!
  16. I know you're kidding, but it reminded me of what Munger said (iirc): "You know who had a huge compliance department? Lehman Brothers." (or did he say Enron? not 100% sure on the exact quote..)
  17. Hi Parsad, This makes sense, but I don't think it's the case. All other sites stay fast during the time that I'm having trouble with this site, and I'm with Teksavvy, who are pretty good about letting me know when they do maintenance. My package also gives me access to PEER1, a pretty fast internet backbone. I'm on a Mac and don't have anti-virus software or anything else that could be slowing down this particular site, and when I get the slowdown, I get it on both my desktop and laptop. Your theories were good, but I think it must be something else, unfortunately :-[

No. I've been meaning to ask the same question..
  19. I've been having intermittent problems with this site loading very slowly, pages half loading, needing to be reloaded many times. I don't know if it's just me or everybody, so I thought I'd do a poll to see what the experience of others has been with the performance of this website. It's weird because for days it's fast, and then it gets slow and that can last for days too..

  22. It's the first time I hear of ELF. I can't even seem to find a website for them... Do you have a link and/or a short investment thesis?
  23. I'm also very curious about the book. would love to get my hands on it. Cheers.
  24. Wow, that's not going to end well.
  25. I'm 29 and I have 8 stocks in my portfolio. Only 12 punches left.. ;D I'll probably go over 20 someday, but I intend to keep these 8 for a long time..
