  1. Sold the last tranche of my BAC position that was bought in 2012!
  2. Sold a bit of my positions in PLTR, DIS, ATZ and TVK today/this week.
  3. Bought some more OXY and re-started a position in CNQ.
  4. Indices - 40% Cash - 20% Berkshire/Markel/FFH - 10% CP - 10% Joe - 5% BN/BAM - 5% Nintendo - 5% Multiple small positions - 5%
  5. Ive been adding to this position but wow 45%...that takes some guts. Would love to hear your general contra thoughts on it as most everyone hates BNS. happy to take this to a BNS thread
  6. It's ugly but buying some Bank of Nova Scotia...
  7. I do something similar and have some overlap with your suggestions. I'll probably add some cdn office reits for punishment and have also added ATZ.
  8. Basket of hated stuff because why not. Nke, dis and C.
  9. @Castanza first time dad here with a 6 month old. Yep first two weeks were brutal until we settled on a "shift" routine that worked for us. It does get "easier" but not easy. And it's funny how only after having a baby did people start telling me that there are regressions and leap periods that change up the baby's routines/habits and fussiness. Would have been nice to be given the heads-up beforehand
  10. Oh man I don't have much to add other than sympathy as we are currently beginning/attempting to sleep train our little one (6 months). The method my wife has chosen is the Ferber method where we check in on the little guy in intervals if he is fussing to let him know we are near by. Some nights are better than others but basically I wish you good luck from one exhausted dad to another. Btw some of my friends swear by hiring a sleep consultant......
  11. @dealraker as a runner are the feet, knee and hip issues inevitable or is there something you wish you did or took care of in your younger days? I for one wish I paid more attention to looking after my back and mobility in my twenties.
  12. Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Will definitely check out the suggestions and test them out to see what works best for me. @Spekulatius - yup back pain from sports earlier in my life (ego lifting, hockey and basketball). Will check out the video! @cubsfan - will definitely check out the videos. Thanks!
  13. On those days or weeks when there are a million things to do and I don't really have the energy or the strength/endurance to go through a complete 45-60 minute workout I'd still like to stay in habit and do SOMETHING. Typically, because I'm approaching my 40s, I would spend about 5-8 minutes of it doing some sort of mobility work or flow and then for part B I would just do whatever exercises I felt like doing. I'm asking the group after my mobility work what few exercises would you recommend to just get the minimum effective dose on these days? Mind you I have no interest on these days to go heavy which typically means I don't do heavy compound exercises (heavy deadlifts, heavy squats, etc). Some ideas I have come op with are kettlebell flows, some bodyweight exercies, TRX exercises, etc. Hit me with your ideas/tips! Thanks!
  14. Figuring out or trying to figure out what the consensus lens is currently. If is extremely short term oriented, zoom out and get a better view/perspective of things and act accordingly. If it tilted long term to an extreme, zoom in to get a variant perspective. This doesn't mean one needs to be contrary all the time (I've learned my lesson here and paid dearly) but the exercise allows you to see another perspective and once you layer on some work on the WHYs for each, it can lead to same satisfactory results or atleast some interesting debate points.
  15. A small tracker in FGH (FG Group Holdings). Will keep on my watchlist but not working out the way it was "sold" to "FINTWIT". **edited** to clarify I started a tracker position as it reminded me of a BOMC, BH/SNS, PDH, etc. Was worth a lottery ticket.
  16. Not an endorsement but it's clear you like a certain type of investment...how bout CSU?
  17. a little off topic and on a tangent....but starting to admire the ones that have "made it" and walked away. I find especially there's a calmness to them and this extends to not having an opinion on everything. For me personally, even though I am not "young" by any stretch of the imagination, if I can get to that I would I would consider myself "made".
  18. Congrats @Gregmal! You're a solid dude and thanks for the chat many many months ago....helped just being able to talk it out.
  19. Well I'm clearly a genius and will be closing up shop for the year. Toodles !
  20. Just throwing out the idea of buying a basket of some of the worst big-tech performers of 2022 including darlings AMZN, META, MSFT, GOOG, ADBE, NVDA, TSLA, SPOT, SHOP, etc. This is a 2023 thread but I can see a future where the 1-3 year returns are decent with this basket. Uneducated, simple and contrary - should be fine
  21. Pretty much even as I was down less than 1% this year but the caveat being I underperformed in 2021 (positive but...). Goals for 2023 include getting out of my own way and simplifying my process and investments/trades as priorities are shifting with a baby on the way!
  22. @Jaygo Great summary/insight. I'll start a separate thread for SRU.UN. I'll kick it off with your post above...hopefully you don't mind.
  23. sorry just seeing this now - yeaa i've gotten enough exposure to CDN REITs via my positions in DRM.TO, AX-UN.TO and SRU.UN of which this board has zero interest in. Fair enough - I've gotten destroyed on these positions
