  1. Yeah, I agree. But look at the damage done on a relatively small basis by the failures of the regional banks due to loan and equity losses on crypto companies which created the run on them and other banks. The domino effect was starting to look like the GFC again, but on a smaller scale, and if the Fed didn't intervene with liquidity, who knows what would have happened. Anyways, this stuff is too complicated for my tiny pea-sized brain to handle! I'll go back to eating shrubs and vegetation! At some point, humanity will go the way of the dinosaur. Cheers!
  2. Wintaai's June 2025 highlights...notice shareholder equity is about the same as last year...the reason: They paid a $30M dividend to shareholders! Great combined ratios across the board as well. I kind of wish Francis stayed a part of Fairfax on a full-time basis! One of the few "real deals" in the investing world. I think he would have fit perfectly into Berkshire as well! Also, there are no restrictions shareholders selling their units with each other...as long as Francis signs off on it. Cheers! Wintaai Financial Highlights June 2025.pdf
  3. Nope, you knew what this guy was like. But he won the primaries in the first election and then was the incumbent in the second. No challengers! Same with the dumb-dumb Democrats...put the same shit out there and believe that's ok and will get the win! Cheers!
  4. The transgender community has crazies too! But why not restrict firearm purchases and tighten background checks in all states? That way you stop the crazies in every group from shooting children! But no one really wants to have that discussion, right? Cheers!
  5. Hi Bill, It's not the stablecoin itself that I worry about. It's usually the underlying loan portfolio built on the back of these assets. So if you have a massive drop in value, those with huge exposure get killed and it starts a domino effect. Naturally, because stable coins are backed by USD, it's less likely. But because of that fact, there may be too much comfort and loose policies around institutions and their holdings, and lending practices that become too concentrated. Especially with this administration now loosening the reins in a big way on crypto and banking both at the same time! Any thoughts? Cheers!
  6. Yes, I agree with this. Problem is we have to take the hits to learn from our mistakes, and historically, they've been bad hits! Cheers!
  7. No, because everyone in it looks like Trump...orange and red...it would just inflame the masses on both sides! Oh, you're making fun of Trump! Oh, you're supporting Trump! Cheers!
  8. Again, what's wrong with America! Partisan BS! Why just Trump? Go after Clinton too and anyone else on that list. I'm not partisan to one side or the other dwy000! And then you don't give a damn 73 Reds...another ignorant answer. What if it was your daughter who Trump and Clinton molested? Cheers!
  9. 100% this! We saw the repercussions to regional banks and the banking system from just a small outlier event two years ago. I just get very nervous every time the "next" new thing in banking/investing arrives. Cheers!
  10. Cubs you are wrong here. Trump's conviction was not squashed...only the excessive fine. He's still a convicted fraudster. The prosecution can still appeal the decision to rescind the excessive fine as well. Whether they do or don't, I have no idea. But the conviction was definitely not overturned...only the excessive fine. Cheers!
  11. Truth is why are either of you defending either of them? If she is guilty...prosecute her and dish out her judgement. Trump was found guilty...he should pay the price too. Not sure why "what is the right thing to do" simply became a partisan punchline! That's what is fucking wrong with America! Cheers!
  12. I still don't understand what supports BTC's price...scarcity isn't a good enough answer. Stablecoins make sense...BTC does not. Cheers!
  13. +1! Cheers!
  14. Yup, that's the problem. Many people don't want Trump as POTUS, but the alternatives the Democrats and Republicans are serving up aren't viable options. A healthy Biden might have won again, but instead Harris was the choice. I suspect if the Democrats fielded a centrist or center-left candidate that was young and healthy, they would have won. Until the Dems find that candidate, Trump and his team will continue to run the Whitehouse. Cheers!
  15. No idea. Usually stuff that we can't think of until it happens. If stablecoins use USD as the reserve, what is the difference between a digital US currency and a US treasury backed stablecoin? I always imagined that stablecoins would use an asset other than fiat currency...like gold. Cheers!
  16. Why do I think that this could create significant long-term outlier events that the GENIUS Act has not thought of. What a crazy moniker for a bill! Because if it goes wrong...yikes! Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/stablecoins-are-set-to-reshape-the-multitrillion-dollar-us-treasury-market-100041163.html
  17. Like Idi Amin? Cheers!
  18. No one has to excuse her behavior. She should just run for POTUS and she can get everything fixed like Trump did! Trump has now set the bar for every crooked shill to run for President so that they can dismiss every charge or crime nailed against them. Welcome to America! Cheers!
  19. The bigger issue long-term is going to be replacing Brian and his abilities. Fairfax will always have a large bond portfolio because of its insurance business. Finding someone as gifted as Brian may be a 1 in 1,000,000 problem. There is the new young guy that people say is doing great, but Brian made certain calls over his career that were just extraordinary. He is arguably one of the greatest fixed income managers in market history, especially over the duration of his career and the market beating results he has given Fairfax. He didn't just beat his peers, he killed them...over decades! This is where the young guys like Wade and Lawrence will influence the equity side to provide more steady, consistent results rather than as lumpy as we've been used to. But their smoother earnings on the equity side may be tempered by lesser results on the overall bond portfolio. Nonetheless, Fairfax only needs a 4% return on the entire portfolio to hit its 15% ROE target. Combine that with a well-run insurance business, they should be able to hit their past return of 17% annualized. Cheers!
  20. Independence Under Pressure! Cheers!
  21. I've watched Fairfax longer than most and I know it's management very well. I would recommend that investors take a conservative approach to Fairfax, the same way they do any idea. Do not assume Fairfax is a completely different company than they were in the past...that extrapolation isn't accurate, since the company has been around 40 years and many are looking at only the last 5. Do not assume that Fairfax has not learned from the past either...these are talented, smart, honest people who work very hard to do the best they can for their company and shareholders. In the last 40 years, Fairfax has compounded at 17% annualized or so alongside growth in book value...use that as your long-term yard stick for the next 40 years. If you do worse, at least you implemented a margin of safety when buying. If you do better, that's just icing on the cake! Cheers!
  22. True! My Canucks still haven't won in 55 years. I cry myself to sleep every June! Cheers!
  23. I don't have a problem with this...he's a world leader, whether you like him or not. If you are meeting him or negotiating, respect is warranted. Too bad Trump and his team didn't offer the same to Zelensky on his first visit. But Trump doesn't have to pretend that Putin is his buddy...like when he said "I think he wants to do a deal for me". Be friendly, but realize the guy will kill Trump happily if it means things are better for him and Russia. Cheers!
  24. Oooooo! No he didn't! Did dealraker just diss the Cubs? Cubs, was this a woke liberal plant? I believe he's wearing a BLM sweatshirt. Cheers!
  25. What a wonderful backhanded compliment! I would hate to be your wife: "Honey, you look beautiful today, except for your ass getting bigger!" Cheers!
