  1. Could be affected by flooding. https://www.freightwaves.com/news/railroad/midwest-floods-stymie-rail-operations
  2. Yes, the term the industry is using is "truck platooning." A small number of vehicles "linked" together with autonomous systems. There is a lead vehicle that controls all the following vehicles. Still lots of testing to do. It would likely just be a small number of vehicles (less than 10), but I'm sure they'll figure out the optimal number based on the roads, etc. https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/research/truck_platooning/
  3. I vote for a separate politics/philosophy board.

  6. Great article about Packer! Packer, we owe you a debt of gratitude for all you've contributed on these boards!
  7. Copy and paste link into Google web search. You should be able to read the article.
  8. VIC has a new FNMA write-up today. Any VIC members willing to give a brief summary of the write-up? I'm guessing there's not much there that you can't find on timhoward17 blog, but, of course, I'm curious.
  9. I work with an economist who shows similar data to his clients and that there is no predictive value between a bear market and recessions. His joke is that the stock market has correctly predicted 15 out of the last 10 recessions (or something to that effect).
  10. I'm not taking sides, but wanted to post another viewpoint from an "expert." http://www.desmogblog.com/richard-lindzen Richard S. Lindzen is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Richard Lindzen's scientific stance on climate change and anthropogenic global warming is that the earth goes through natural periods of global warming and cooling. According to Dr. Lindzen, the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change are problematic and limited because they are based on computer models which Lindzen says are "generally recognized as experimental tools whose relation to the real world is questionable." Furthermore, he feels that the issue of global warming is completely political, and that policy makers and the media not only manipulate science but also force scientists to produce work that supports a particular agenda.
  11. For an extremely quick read, the article, "The Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville" by Buffett.

  13. Eric, I'm just starting my research into the Paleo diet and came across this website on "bulletproof coffee". Ignore all the coffee they are trying to sell, but I'd be curious on your opinion on this. Basically the breakfast is coffee blended with butter (grass fed only) and MCT oil (or coconut oil). Lots of claims on the site, but I'd be curious to get your opinion. http://www.bulletproofexec.com/how-to-make-your-coffee-bulletproof-and-your-morning-too/
  14. Where do you buy wild caught fish? Wholefoods? Local shop? Just curious because I haven't seen in most chain grocery stores (although maybe I'm not looking close enough). Maybe it's a regional thing too.
  15. The one thing I love about these boards is the great investment information and advice about value investing. The one thing I hate is the political discussions. It's just opinion after opinion after opinion. Perhaps Sanjeev could start a "Polictical" category for those discussions?
  16. Nothing. Check out a copy from your local library.
  17. Parsad, I thought admission to the Value Investors Club required a person to submit an investment idea which was then judged. Are you saying you were invited to join without submitting an idea? Just curious.
