i think the japanese RE bubble of the 80's and 90's is way beyond what we experience here int he US recently
"Prices were highest in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1989, with choice properties fetching over 100 million yen (approximately $1 million US dollars) per square meter ($93,000 per square foot). Prices were only marginally less in other large business districts of Tokyo."

the avg in manhattan nyc is over little over $1k

i personally can't wait for win8, i actually might buy one of the varies pc tablet hardware out there and install win8 dev edition that is out right now
i honestly don't see why i would need a pc and a tablet in the future (via how apple is right now). think pc and tablet will merge, which is what win8 is all about
reminds me when PDA and cellphone were 2 different devices, now we call then smartphones

what are some ways one would put on this long hkd position?

also i think bruce's approach this time is different, he has spread his exposure to essential the entire financial system, owning bunch of financial institutions
in 1990's he was so confident about wells he put in 33% just in wells
i wish i can understand AIG, since he has 20%+ percent in it (including aia)
-
it does seem to me in the OID interviews bruce gave so much of facts and figures
as for recent bac etc interviews not much

i thought i recall (correct me if i am wrong) that when Berkshire invested in BYD, buffett said that this is completely munger thing. berkshire invested because munger said they should. I don't believe Buffett ever said he would invest on his own?
