Its not about Trump or elections. If you want to make it a larger issue, why do people feel emboldened to impede ICE and law enforcement? Do you believe this tragedy would have happened if people were not encouraged, even paid to engage in such activity? Could it have something to do with the fact that "protestors" were permitted to invade college campuses and disrupt life for many while authorities simply stood by, watched and supported them?

Regardless of your motive, would you walk into a crowd of people intentionally trying to impede ICE from doing their jobs, while carrying a loaded weapon? Its a matter of personal responsibility. Not blame.

Last I checked, the 2nd Amendment applied to everyone. But yeah, personal responsibility is hard for some, the same people who like to blame others.

The blame game only plays into people's predisposed narratives. He decided to be in the wrong place at the wrong time carrying the wrong piece of personal property. Sadly, just one week ago we celebrated MLK Day in the US but folks in Minnesota never got the message of peaceful protest.

Yeah, reading the posts on this thread from yesterday shows how people would rather talk around each other than with one another. And then there are those who simply like to argue for argument's sake. Replies are not even warranted. Whether in protests or on message boards, stupidity has its consequences.

Cubs, you're wasting your time with people who have little or no perspective. As if tragedies and mistaken arrests never happen with "well-trained" law enforcement. Or elections don't have consequences. We voted for ICE. They're doing their jobs, despite constant obstruction by not only local "protestors" but governing local and State officials. No issues anywhere but places where breaking the law is encouraged. Sanctuary cities and states are breaking the law. Not only the laws Republicans like, but the laws in effect for everyone. They can't seem to grasp that simple concept. The slient majority largely approves because the end-goal is worthy even though getting there is messy. No one wants to see people die but when you take unnecessary risks with your life, consider the consequences.

John Mauldin's weekly column has an interesting take; this is the year that China and the US make up and become friends because it costs both countries too much to remain enemies and we need each other.

Thanks, John. Nice history lessons there. Interesting that Greenland has autonomy over internal affairs but has to defer to Denmark as to any foreign policy or outside relations. And parliamentary representation looks to be a mere token gesture. In terms all of us on this Board can understand, I was curious whether Danes look at Greenland as more of an asset or a liability and whether it is just a matter of time when Greenland follows in Iceland's footsteps of complete autonomy. It would seem that more infrastructure, resulting in more permanent residents there would lead in that direction.

John, I think many of us are really trying to learn. Heck, I've flown over Greenland more times than I can count and have spent time in neighboring Iceland (great destination BTW!). But until now have hardly given it a second thought, other than to think to myself, why would anyone want to live there? I would imagine for a small country like yours, people there have opinions. I asked you because I hoped you would be biased as a Dane. But if you prefer not to share you own feelings I completely understand, but how about the prevailing feelings of others there?

If I wanted the perspective of a know-it-all message board poster I'd have asked.

John, I'm genuinely curious: How do people in your Country feel about Greenland? I mean let's pretend this entire brouhaha never happened. Do folks in Denmark have an affinity for Greenland and its people? What do they ultimately get, or hope to get from the relationship? Is there any resentment that they have to provide support to Greenland and do they feel they receive adequate consideration for such support? Did Greenland really even matter to most people in your Country until recently? Is the overall sentiment for Greenland any different than the way Danes think about the Faroe Islands - I think the populations are about the same.
