Buffett apparently does not care if they are mixed. Where BRK has lent it's brand, the Insurance and Home Real estate businesses, it does not hurt to have pristine financial credentials. Who knows, BRK may have a larger strategy of a one-stop-solution in play here, as they have continuously assembled jigsaw pieces around the home. The Bloomberg article is pointing out to the impact any negative headlines coming from the consumer brand may have on the stock price. The other company that has a similar stellar stock performance over the long term, DHR, absolutely cares about this issue and has kept the investment brand DHR separate from its' operating brands.
