2014 FFH Shareholder's Dinner - Less Than 25 Tickets Left!

Hi Folks,

We are getting to the finish line here on tickets!  A maximum of 140 tickets this year.  I will not be able to provide anyone with last minute dinner tickets or presentation seating this year, as we have limited space and the room will not be able to accommodate any more than that without making viewing for other patrons uncomfortable.  If you plan on attending, even as a late straggler when Prem gets there, I recommend a ticket, as there will not be much standing room with Fairfax's guests there.  Cheers!

2014 Fairfax Financial Shareholder’s Dinner

The Fairfax Financial Shareholder’s Dinner we hold each year, is set for April 8, 2014 at the Fairmont Royal York

in Toronto.  We’ve always enjoyed support from Fairfax, and our last dinner was completely ridiculous, as Fairfax

CEO Prem Watsa brought along 15 other executives, managers and CEO’s with him.

The dinner is held in memory of JoAnn Butler, who was Prem Watsa’s executive assistant for many years.  JoAnn

passed away on May 12, 2009 from colon cancer, and she was instrumental in the success of our dinners each year.

We raised almost $20,000 for “The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of Canada” in JoAnn’s memory last April.

Fairfax Financial Shareholder’s Dinner

Upper Canada Room - 18th Floor

Tuesday April 8, 2014

Fairmont Royal York

100 Front Street West

Toronto, Ontario

(416)368-2511

Tickets are available directly if you scroll down the left side of the “Corner of Berkshire & Fairfax” website homepage at:

www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca

Prices are the same as last year.

- $75 for presentation only, and free water, coffee, tea, as well as available cash bar.

- $150 for dinner and presentation.

We have a limit of only 140 tickets this year, as the Fairmont Royal York did not have a lot of room available.

So get your tickets early, as we will definitely be sold out pretty soon.

If anyone is interested in corporate sponsorship of prizes, or any donors for prizes, please contact me at cornerofberkshireandfairfax@gmail.com.

Thanks very much!

That takes a lot of guts.  You must feel very confident.  There's nothing women like more than a roomful of value investors.  A value guy is like the Marlboro Man of the investing world.  A man's man.  Just about anyone there could probably be cast in one of those Viagra commercials where they show a burly, greying guy and the voice over talks about this being the age of knowing how to get things done and make things happen.

Gio is very smart - and this is a well-known strategy.  The best way to look good is to present even more-boring men as the comparison group.

Yes, I am!

She has told me: “You must take me to Canada someday…!!”. And has followed that with a disarming smile! ;D ;D ;D

But… she didn’t specify exactly which day… and I obviously already had a very specific day in my mind!! ;)

Cheers!

Hi guys… This is really hard to admit… But there is no point in hiding it…

I have just been officially dumped…

Therefore, I will come to Toronto alone.

And, Sanjeev, you can give away the second ticket I had bought to whoever you’d like.

I know with such a failure I must be leaving Kraven seriously down… But perhaps part of the fault is also yours… After all, you had given me a lot of PUAs’ tricks and routines… but no strategies to manage a relationship!! ;)

Jokes aside, it is not a good day for me…

Gio

PS

Until a few days ago I was thinking: “Ok, I am bad as an investor, but I must be a good lover indeed! Just look at my girlfriend!” … Now, it is a true race: am I worse as an investor, or as a lover??!! ;D ;D

Hi Gio,

Sorry to hear that!  But even if you were dumped...remember the fun you had and move on to the person who is actually the one for you...she may be waiting in Toronto!  ;D

I will refund one of your tickets and Alan's friend can buy it from me at the door.

Hi, Gio:

I'll buy the ticket from you as my friend is unable to find the link to purchase the ticket on http://www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca/.  I can no longer find it either.

Can you please email me the confirmation of your ticket purchase?

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Email me your friends name and email address, and he can pay me at the door.  Thanks!

Unfortunately folks, we are sold out, so the only way to get tickets is if there are cancellations.  Please email me at cornerofberkshireandfairfax@gmail.com to put your name on the cancellation list.  Cheers!

Gio, Gio, Gio.  Did you tell her her best friend is really hot?  Did you introduce her to people as the "ball and chain"?

I'm sorry.  These things can be painful, but the cliches are true.  They hurt a little less each day until they don't hurt anymore.  Think of it as the proverbial when a door closes, a window opens.  Hang in there, my friend.

Hi guys! I know a lot of you will attend the FFH dinner next week, and the AGM the next day. I will be there too. Therefore, I asked myself: how shall I recognize you? After all, we constantly exchange our views on business and other matters, but we have never seen each other…

My solution: I will be recognized instead! I attach a recent picture of mine, so that you might recognize Gio at once! ;)

I look forward to having a great time with you all in Toronto! :)

Cheers,

Gio

PS

Sanjeev, tell me that I can take a picture with you, Mr. Watsa, and Mr. Pabrai next week… three great value investors and a fan!! ;D ;D

Handsome devil!  8)

I wish I was able to attend this year, Gio. We are interested in a lot of the same companies/capital allocators, I would have been fun to compare notes over a drink.

Maybe next year... I know it's early, but do you plan to make the trip again?

Though it is a pity we won’t have the chance to meet in person this year, don’t worry Liberty! I plan to make the trip every year from now on! :)

I spend so much time discussing ideas with all of you, and it is time I cherish so much, that, if possible, I truly want to meet you at least once a year!

Therefore, Liberty, I sincerely hope next year will be the right time… Until then, keep up the good work! ;)

Cheers,

Gio

Hey Sanjeev,

I was just wondering what time the dinner starts? It doesn't seem to be indicated in the above but I remember 6:30 pm from some thread somewhere. Does it start at 6:30?
