Redskin212 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I am glad to see Fairfax has hired some younger talent. Not that anyone is old at Fairfax, but the core investment management is all in their mid 50's and it is probably a good time to start some succession planning. http://business.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090406.wfund0406/BNStory/SpecialEvents2/home
Parsad Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Wade is very good as well. Pretty amazing how talented that pool is and it will get deeper over time. Prem has a very good eye for talent! Cheers!
Partner24 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Just like he seems to have done at his beginnings at Cundill, will he work for free for us? I wouldn't have any problem to double his salary then. A formal proposition anyone? ;) ;D
Parsad Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Wade may actually be able to work for free now anyway! ;D I'm sure he's done very well for himself since he's been at Cundill. Cheers!
ubuy2wron Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Peter Cundill has retired from all daily activities with the funds baring his name. Tim McElvaine has taken on a mandate with Mackenzie. Peter has perhaps one of the best track records in the value field for the last 30 years he has done it while mentoring a bevy of great up and coming portfolio mgrs, like Wade and Tim and many others. Peter has made his long term investors rich, thank-you Peter.
NumquamPerdo Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Wade is a great guy, and very knowledgeable. Word on the street is that, unfortunately, Peter Cundill has pretty fairly progressed Parkinson's disease. With Cundill, McElvaine and Burton I'm starting to wonder who's managing the Cundill Funds...
