jm25 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 The idea of this thread is to post a few books you've liked and see if someone has a suggestion based on that list for your next book... I've seen it done on TV show lists... I'll start: Red Notice, Shoe Dog, American Kingpin... Looking for my next non-fiction book that captures you like a movie.
Pauly Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Midnight in Chernobyl. Great book that's just as captivating as the recent HBO series, but with much more detail.
Xaston Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Last thing I read that I felt I had to suggest to anybody who would listen was Cixin Liu’s Three Body Problem trilogy.
cubsfan Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 'With the Old Breed' by E.B. Sledge One of the greatest wartime reads ever!! So few know about it. Read it, then give it to your favorite Marine... Follow that one up with Antony Beevor "Stalingrad" and "The Fall of Berlin"
drzola Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Discourse = 21st century dystopia The Road Cormac McCarthy Cheers! Stay safe.
bobp Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Nonfiction - The Soul of an Octopus. Fiction - Gentleman in Moscow Amor Towles. Fantastic. Great writing. I thought it was recommended here but I can't find it anywhere. The Overstory - Richard Powers. Halfway through I'm loving it. Writing is beautiful. Good paired with the Octopus book. We humans think we're so special. So are octopuses and trees.
Liberty Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 The Road Cormac McCarthy Cheers! Stay safe. Maybe not the best time to read this... Very dark book
coc Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 'With the Old Breed' by E.B. Sledge One of the greatest wartime reads ever!! So few know about it. Read it, then give it to your favorite Marine... Follow that one up with Antony Beevor "Stalingrad" and "The Fall of Berlin" I listened to Sledge's book as an audiobook. Haunting. Hard to get through.
drzola Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Very Dar Book; Not even close to how I react to Trump's daily moderator skills Live!
