netnet
What are the best books by and about Richard Feynman? I plan to read up on him this summer. Thanks! By the way I recently saw his 2 minute video on how rubberbands work, such genius at explanation as well as child-like enthusiasm! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRxAn2DRzg
boilermaker75
I highly recommend https://www.amazon.com/Surely-Youre-Joking-Mr-Feynman-ebook/dp/B003V1WXKU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526430443&sr=8-1&keywords=richard+feynman+books and https://www.amazon.com/What-Care-Other-People-Think-ebook/dp/B004OA6KIS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1526430443&sr=8-4&keywords=richard+feynman+books
nodnub
"Surely you're joking..." is a great book. There are some other talks he has given on youtube which demonstrate how he thought and how he taught others..
rishig
The best book that really demonstrates Feynman's talent as a science teacher: QED: The Strange Theory of Light and Matter (https://www.amazon.com/QED-Strange-Princeton-Science-Library/dp/0691164096/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526447049&sr=8-1&keywords=qed+feynman) This topic, Quantum Electrodynamics, is what he won the Nobel prize for. I read this book when I was in my tenth grade, the book has no equations and is written for the layman. How many noble prize winning physicists can explain their theory to a 16 year old in real depth? This is Feynman at his best! Highly recommend it. If you want a more technical book that shows how awesome Feynman is as an undegrad teacher, I recommend the second volume of Feynman's lectures. If you are looking for life of Feynman, I recommend Surely You're Joking..
Jurgis
If you want to get a balanced and not-overly-positive viewpoint, you should read Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman by James Gleick Link: http://a.co/6wPVIaU "Surely you're joking..." and others from that series are great and funny, but completely one-sided. netnet
Excellent, Thanks all. I have most of my summer reading lined up! 8) (Note: Feynman's two volumes of lectures, as well as the Intelligent Investor were sitting in the bookcase in my dad's study; sadly at 16, I 'read' Playboy and invested in penny stocks instead. :-[ )
