Buffett/Berkshire - general news
DooDiligence replied to fareastwarriors's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
WEB hates cash! At Geico "you can almost hear the checks hitting the mailbox..." Housing strong but people holding off on furniture. Apple borrowing $ from US to buy back shares (until repatriation - my words not his) Modest hiring of RR employees. Disclosed the IBM sale (good call doing it before 13F & the meeting) & said he should've bought the S & P instead of IBM. Picking losses for future harvest. Still uses a flip phone. -
Up over 20% on RGR & holding & would love to see it go 20% below what I paid for it (now, of course...) or Careful what you wish 4...

Life is Crazy or Ask Scott About Life
DooDiligence replied to ScottHall's topic in General Discussion
I shouldn't disturb that near perfect ending but... Hey Scott, Were you compensated for product placement by Monster Bev in your “make America great vidi?” <del>What’s the significance of the Langley lat long?</del> What happens if you give a pig a pancake? Where can I find the recipe for Uncle Sidney’s Snickerdoodles if I don’t want to buy the book? Did you get a woody when Vince McMahon said FU to his distributors? (quitting should always be an option…) Did you become an Agora affiliate because they sold Razor’s? Do you think ROH is the crown jewel of Sinclair & does the BC shirt in any way allude to this <em>(OK that may have been ridiculous, I know, you're just a fan.)</em> (follow up: was the shirt freshly washed in the vidi?) <del>Are you still sleeping on the air mattress or is it back to the floor</del> & does Patchwork sleep on or near your face? I have a Fortune Telling 8 ball that lies to me constantly so I ordered the 2000 ed of Walker’s Manual of $0.01 Stocks (is the 4th ed of Unlisted Stocks still usable?) Also ordered B $ Kiss & 1856 (will this be sufficient to juice my returns?) Can you disregard my previous question “do you do vidi?” -
You're not going to believe what I'm about to tell you

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all AI's are created differently... Well, of course. Slick marketing aside, all intelligences are. That was my point bro (and yours too kinda?) -

Echo Chambers in Investment Discussion Boards
DooDiligence replied to Hielko's topic in General Discussion
This is claimed based on stock prices 5 days ( ! ) from the posting. "Strategies" based on sentiment are really crappy IMO ("buy when someone posts positive sentiment on stock, sell when someone posts negative sentiment"). It would be great if they got some long-er term stock return results. But then it's very difficult to research: what is "long-er term"? When would you buy/sell/etc.? Breaking News: Shocking new research shows that online discussion board posters can not accurately predict the 5 day movement of stock prices!!!!! How do they do a decade out? I say they as though we are not they... -

The 1st coffeeshop I ever visited in Amsterdam was the Free 1 on Reguliersdwarsstraat around the late 90's. They had ICP "F the World" blaring out of the place & a bunch of sullen looking punks lounging around inside. I copped & hung around for a bit but nobody wanted to socialize (didn't get beat up or arrested so not as interesting as your story.) I remember when Ajax was in town there'd be parades of guys in the street in front of Smokey, singing & appearing all fearsome. I feel lucky to have been able to see Van Gogh's, Vermeer's & Rembrandt's (and of course Anne Frank's) in situ... The Dutch & the Thai's are super cool!

Warren Buffett's Ground Rules - Jeremy Miller
DooDiligence replied to ShaiDardashti's topic in Books
I thought it was very good. I'm not a trained financial analyst (holdings in signature will bear witness...) Reading through the history of the Dempster Mill deal was cool (I loved the painted inventory level line in the warehouse - simple but effective.) The book also gives a nice intro to Generals, Workouts & Controls. Worth reading & anybody who say's otherwise is just itchin' for a fight... -

The perfect match for WEB since he doesn't like being "O cara empunhando o machado"
