assuming we are talking about agency mortgages. my understanding is that most of the reason the rate is higher than an equivalent length treasury is due to pre-payment risk. the agencies guarantee against default risk.
eric, if the purpose is to diversify the downside risk, why hold two of the three in the same industry? i imagine that movement in both c and jpm is highly correlated with movement in bac.

Turns out a lot of my stocks aren't really in indexes. Interesting.
it looks like that tool only displays stocks that are in a fund's top 10 holdings, not any stock held by a fund.
maybe i'm the only one, but i didn't find the furniture or decor offensive. not quite to my taste, but it's appropriate to the building and the setting. stark, modern design in that building would be out of place, and to my mind, far worse.

i'd be worried that my profession might be predictive of my investing success, but i'm only here to copy from investors more rigorous and cautious than myself, so perhaps i should be relieved rather than worried.
