anytime someone asks me about stock tips, I will just send them this list to get them to buy an index fund. Allthough that hasn't happened so far :( .

is putin really in full power tho? Lets take the olympics. What would have happened if he chose not to funnel away so much money to all the higher ups? I doubt he is some kind of russian superpower on his own. He probably has to please certain powerfull parties in his country, or else they conspire against him and hes fked. Would be fascinating to watch that guy at work for like a month. Take an uncensored peek into his world.

seems to me you want at least decent exposure to the spot market. It is basicly a bet on too little supply for the next few years, but more importantly, increase in demand. But like another poster said, I think there is too much moving parts, and I cannot find cheap stocks I can get comfortable with.

Im keeping an eye on black earth farming. But apparantly it is really difficult to do farming in that part of the world. Really good land, but not enough expertise to actually make a profit on it.

Thought it's an interesting article Was accused of running pump and dumps and got to keep 500k$ in the end. http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/25/magazine/25STOCK-TRADER.html?pagewanted=all What seems weird in these things is that responsibility is moved away from people using their fking brain and not buying a stock without even opening a 10k, to the people writing up these promotions for companies.

I picture this all being very calculated. Putin having advisors Like that chess dude Kronsteen from the bond movie From Russia with love. They probably know what will happen next, but it had positive expected value for them to send troops in. Or maybe putin is desperate, and he needs to do this, to keep a strong grip on his country.

Do you think Bitcoin is a safe store of value?
yadayada replied to mikazo's topic in General Discussion
there are bitcoin scramblers. For example the old silk road would function as a scrambler. You put bitcoin in, and you get different ones out. -
Thoughts on Keck seng? I think these guys have quite a bit of palm oil plantations.

Im curious to read the reviews on this one. I have a feeling he is just trying to cash in here.

untill they sell it or actuallly get bigger leases this stock is a valuetrap tho. And it seems that you have to wait up to 7-8 years for some of those contracts to come down. I guess the significant upside makes up or it. Because in 2013 they barely generated any cash.

greatest danger is relative thinking. We are wired to compare, not see things in a absolute way. So when the market is overpriced, something with a 10x multiple might look cheap. If multiples go to like 25x, then maybe 13-14x multiples start to look cheap. But it is probably best to wait still. Unless ofcourse you got the rare growth story in the early phase with a very nice moat for that price.

it all does not matter people. We will exist as humans for millions and maybe billions of years if we are lucky and then we die off in some intergalactic war. Mean while our universe is infinite and billions of light years away there is also a fairfax and berkshire message board, and literally the only difference between their planet and ours is that the background of their message board is a slightly darker color blue. And Buffet is a ginger. Odds are there are literally infinite living beings out there. So who gives a shit if you kill of some fetus that you can barely call human. We got no problem with throwing drone strikes on schools if it also kills some terrorist. And killing off animals to have some nice ribs or a steak. You could argue they are at least on the same level as a fetus.

I like this take on global warming: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7zL14dMfSO0/TpShEO5bIkI/AAAAAAAAAA0/x8mjNgDFTi0/s1600/hoax.jpg

there is no debate about earth warming up (resulting in more extreme climate) but wether humans are actually causing it. Allthough it seems that all the guys who seem to know what they are talking about are on the side of humans being the cause.

when even on reddit you see people talking about how to prepare for the pop of the stock bubble, you know that there is no bubble.

isnt it really cheap nowadays to have a half decent website? I never really get that cheap skating on things like this. its a bit like saying, screw it im gonna wear my pyama's to work from now on! saves money!

It doesn't seem like it has much of a moat tho. You can easily tell your friends to get some other free app that probably works the same. Just as easy. You all tell each other to download it, without much hassle at all. Usually you only use it with 10 people at most I guess. It is not like facebook, which is more complex and where you have more people and foto's and other data.

if you add a bitcoin adress ill donate some money. Im too lazy to pull out my credit card now :P

I think paying 20$ is really great. That keeps out the trolls really well. I barely see heated discussions between people who dont have a clue what they are talking about. Everything stays civil and there seems to be a high % of very educated people on this board. Maybe with inflation in a few years, it needs to be upped to 30$ tho :) . I supose one thing to make it better could be the people who open a thread adding the best posts in the OP. So when you got a question you can simply read the OP.
-
Dont forget the masked orgies in large mansions, with various code words to acces it.
-
would be cool if all the interesting information would be summarized in the OP. OP could do this, or a mod could do this. Only do it if a thread goes past like 5 pages or something.

Why haven't Starbuck's competitors done more damage?
yadayada replied to LongHaul's topic in General Discussion
one reason they opened so many stores on every street corner is so competition wouldnt be able to do so. They simply picked up all the good spots. Second reason is that those stores basicly functioned as billboards as well. Get into people's subconscious. Third reason is ofcourse scale. And like mentioned, they do a good job on the quality and ambiance. But those are not the main reasons imo.
