  1. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-08-24/roche-holding-agrees-to-buy-intermune-for-8-3-billion.html?cmpid=yhoo

Roche Holding Agrees to Buy InterMune for $8.3 Billion

    Olmstead,

I think my ITMN pick fit the profile you were looking for.

I posted the pick on February 06, 2014 and the stock closed at $11.32

Roche is purchasing them for $74.  653% gain in 6 months.

What stock did you end up picking for the contest?

    congrats josh! really stunning amazing!!

  2. well, the market never take it easy on lowering of guidance especially during the time when the sector is so weak. LTS down 8%. The funds flow is the same because of the higher commodities pricing and lower capex.

Ugly last couple months, hope you guys did take some profits off before the correction.

indeed a ugly time right now. i sold my pwe at around 35% gain but go back in manitok and lightstream to early. in the red now. also buy back pwe at the huge drop

  3. Might be possible to buy those but I mean other south korean stocks aside from those two. I'm not sure I can buy those two through IB either.

no others  i cant buy :/. i would buy lotte chilsung and Lg but cant, sad Story. may i have to open up a IB account too. if you have success with buying those via IB please contact me :)

    thanks

    phil

  4. I sold my PKX and CHL to pay for FIATY, LUKOY and UPL. Mostly because I think PKX and CHL are no longer undervalued (some appreciation and erosion of fundamentals).

i can understand you. also sold last week my posco to buy some stocks with more Price potential

  5. Hi Phil. Can you also buy South-Korean stocks through ING? I recently inquired to buy them through ING Belgium (and BNP and a few others) but they weren't able to buy individual stocks for me. :(

yes i can :). but only the gdr Shares which are a half of a preferred share, but it is the same share. i can only buy hyundai preferred gdr and Samsung preferred gdr share via ing. but thats ok for me. i hold both and think both are undervalued.

hmm sad that you cant buy them via ing belgium, the gdr Shares also not?

    cheers phil

  6. fiat, altisource, Eurobank ergasius, horsehead, gazprom, sberbank, lightstream, penn west and clarke

That's more names than I have in my portfolio. :D

Must say plenty of stocks have gotten cheaper quickly these last few days. AIQ, LRE, Fiat, GM, JPM, IBM, Intralot, .. for those that I follow closely. Let's hope the European correction blows over!

:D yeah i have a Portfolio with a lot of names. i take the Walter schloss Approach.

yeah youre right. a lot of stocks get cheap. i would buy all of that youre mentioned if i have more Money right now.

  7. With respect to the Fiat NYSE listing, anyone (phil, muscleman, far east, packer or any other Fiat holders) know if:

    1. The Over-The-Counter ADR shares listed under FIATY are automatically converted into FCA shares on the NYSE if approved?

    2. Does conversion from FIATY to FCA on the NYSE require voting yes on the proxy or will it happen even if one refrains from voting?

Trying to figure out if I should do anything with this proxy given the deadline to vote of July 25th.

    Thanks in advance.

luck to my understanding the adr Shares are automatically converted into fca Shares if approved.

to the Point that you have to vote to get the conversion, i think you dont Need to vote. you are automatically get the Shares.

    cheers

    phil

  8. It will be interesting to see if the government will just re-instate the preferred and common shareholders and sell there warrants to prevent more of this coming out.  It appears if they do not they may lose the takings case and be penalized for misleading disclosures which may cost them more than re-instating the shareholders.  It nice to have Ralph Nader on your side.

With both cases at a critical juncture the spring is wound tight.  Informed speculation that either/both case(s) could be blow open any day can be found on this site:

I am sure both teams of attorneys follow this site as is is the best source of commentary about case developments.

Preferreds are still trading at 35-40 cents on the dollar.

thanks onyx1 for the site.  :) hopefully we will win
