what is some other virus that we knew two months back mutated? We live in a world of risks. The risks havent really gone up in the long term.
-
it has probably overreacted, with so much money printing going on I cant imagine commodities remaining low, it might recover. The question i am thinking is , can we profit from it?
-
https://www.screener.in/ http://www.valuepickr.com/ these are the best for filings you can see bseindia.com, I have a quick question thanks in advance, is there a site like screener.in for us stocks? the site shows 10 year numbers plus simple analysis of them on a single page which is brilliant, it makes a lot of sense for long term investors
-
Yes great site, went straight to my favorites, there are great sites for indian markets for us markets I am still trying to find which is good for long term shareholders
-
Is this option available? I havent been able to follow the board but a smart phone app (tapatalk or something else) will definitely help a lot. Thanks Everyone
-
Are you saying GM isnt undervalued? Buffet doesn't seem to think so, Also as for dividends, when I am buying options are the dividend still an issue (sorry if its too naive). I know adds to the cost so thats painful
-
Thanks eric for helping out people like me. Dont you think its better to buy GM calls now? in other words BAC is undervalued but GM is probably better to load up as its more undervalued?

There have been 100 baggers in india, there is a study done on it by some folks here and there is a talk on it, the full report is at http://alphaideas.in/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Motilal_Oswal_Wealth_Creation_Study_2009_2014.pdf at the end they have identified 6-7 stocks which they are saying can be 100 baggers :)

Although I had to follow pabrai here, as this is the only indian company he holds. I dont get it, May be i will get it after one year! Past results were only ok although most private sector banks were able to grow very nicely and were available at similar valuation or lower last year. The other thing is indian economy might be able to grow fast (>6%) however i doubt it. Monsoons are bad so far and nothing else impacts the economy more than monsoons. Learner do you have a way to monitor the bse site for him selling? Most likely he will hold for more then a year and it might tedious to do it manually.

I have been using theoldreader.com, I like the simple interface and it does the job

You can verify it here http://www.bseindia.com/markets/equity/EQReports/bulk_deals.aspx?expandable=3 04/07/2014532218South Indian BankTHE PABRAI INVESTMENT FUND IV LPB19,606,63432.5 04/07/2014532218South Indian BankMULTIPLES PRIVATE EQUITY FII IS14,545,50032.5 I dont know of a easy way to find out about his exit, unless Prasad posts about that also would be happy to know though :) , IMHO the stock isnt super cheap like BAC so i am little surpised about this position
-
it was a bulk deal (private transaction which is reported) So i guess thats all he could get at this point, may be he bought some via open market also. Happy Bday Prasad, Thanks a lot :)

it will be very helpful if we can see prasads holding on dataroma or some other site? I guess his track record will be much better.

What stocks will make their owners rich over the next generation?
kmukul replied to JAllen's topic in General Discussion
Can we do a poll for this thread? i think it will be more relevant poll for this forum. Not sure how do add a poll to this thread may be prasad can help in that and also vote :) My guess is thomas cook here, Thesis is pretty simple Mr Watsa has made it its primary investment vehicle in india and given his track record it should be a grand slam -

Thanks a lot for the article yadayada, Agree this guy is probably a very good bet (probably better then other bets posted here in this thread) except may be he is slowing with his age as the article says. -
I think you can contact the investor relations in FFH or Thomas cook and see if they can help clarify. I do expect the wages to be lower but the margins could easily be higher then 6%. Please let us also know if you decide to do that about the experience

Corner of Berkshire & Fairfax Fund - Poll Q2'14
kmukul replied to Ross812's topic in General Discussion
Is this a real fund i can buy? Unfortunately i cant buy pabrai or sanjivs fund -
I am actually surprised to read this read on this forum :) But its not fair if Prasad or someone doesn't put the point of view of Prem. In hindsight you can see hedges had issues but then in hindsight every one is right and most likely its already reflected in FFH price , its also more of a one off thing may be next time they will be better off when they use hedges. One thing that disappointed me more then hedges was Prems love for Tom Ward. that was also discussed a lot on this board but I don't think any conclusion was made and most likely we will have the same thing here.

full time private investors who left their day job
kmukul replied to ourkid8's topic in General Discussion
Well I can get the point of not keeping going and may be you can enjoy your life. May be you can also donate :) to Melinda Foundation. However for the other point of making a bad call, you can keep half of your money in cash (or protected by puts which you prefer). So that way you cant blow up. I think even If you work with half of cash you will make great returns overall. You might make 1 bad calls and it could hurt but if you make 1-2 good calls from here imagine where will it be. Chances are you will make more good calls then bad. I think over all that will be better then someone else managing your money plus you also need to do something with your "spare" time. -
Value investor Prem Watsa bullish on India growth story
kmukul replied to maxthetrade's topic in Fairfax Financial
Why not just buy Thomas cook near book and let prem do all the hard work. IB has presence in india https://www.interactivebrokers.co.in/en/main.php , As its already mentioned large caps are mostly overvalued while small caps are mostly undervalued but its a difficult game for some one sitting in some other country, -
Similar query, At what point can the small investors get in? Any way of getting into ipo or do we have to wait for it to list in 2015 and then try to get into it if it isn't already 2-3x book
-
They have their own spots and you have your own and this is all as of today, I think you will easily get 15-20 easy ideas in next 40 years, this board or buffet will guide you or something else might happen in future
-
It is a skill that is useful if there is an actionable investment idea brought to my attention. Somebody needs to throw the ball in the air for me to catch it. Somebody needs to put in some good blocks for me to get open. I can't work in isolation like the punter. come on Eric, I though you werent serious when you were posting all this, you are undoubtedly a much better investor then average and you will improve with time and make even more money. (like in perf reviews they say everyone has areas of improvement) but you are definately a 1 in stack ranks. you also exemplify some of the quotes of buffet with your style of investing “I’m no genius, but I’m smart in spots, and I stay around those spots.” :) you know your area and you have been doing excellent staying around those. And you also exemplify the 20 punch card quote opportunity look where you have got with 3-4 punches once you have 20 in next 40-50 years you might be on forbes list. its otherwise difficult for me to get what buffet is saying unless there is an example I can understand
-
Wow, 15 years return will make even buffet envious especially without leverage and cash position, whats your secret holding :)

Mohnish Pabrai Boston College Presentation
kmukul replied to indythinker85's topic in General Discussion
portfolio margin + puts seems like a wonderful thing :), however your interest rates on margin are not locked it could go up and down with interest rates which might be another risk
