  1. Any updates on this guy? Was wondering his 2012 performance!
  2. Hey guys! I'm looking for books about Bubbles, Euphorias and Manias of recent history. I've read The Big Short and really enjoyed it. I'm primarily looking to read about the Internet Bubble and the Junk Bond Bubble - if you have any suggestions about the books - please shout out! Cheers.
  3. Thanks for the link! Any luck finding the actual letter?
  4. Haha... "I've done business all my life with handshakes..." "Who is this guy...what's his name?" "I don't know if this guy is sanctimonious or arrogant..." "The guy is a major loser..." Pretty much "I'm worth $16 billion and I don't care about you puny insects" type of attitude. This doesn't make Ackman a saint but I don't think you could trust EITHER of those two men.
  5. Ted Weschler has known DVA and has been buying DVA since 10+ years. He has no shortage of capital seeing as how he works for BRK now. He wants to buy DVA as much as possible without causing a mayhem, but seeing as how stock has been rising relentlessly, one has to wonder what does he think this company is worth?
  6. I was about to post it - but you beat me to it! Funny about the judge labeling the disgruntled seller's case as a "simple case of seller’s remorse."
  7. rbcpa.com is one heck of a website. Especially their "Investment Management" section http://www.rbcpa.com/invindex.html. Thanks for posting!
  8. Here's a quote from NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/23/business/steven-cohen-of-sac-is-fascinating-to-investigators-too.html?pagewanted=all) I was looking for: Cheers!
  9. I don't even get why he's panicking to keep money from leaving his fund. Him and his employees own over half of the AUM. And who cares if Cohen won't be able to keep existing money in the fund? Dude has made it by already amassing his billions. Not like he'll be sweating even a tad bit for the rest of his life.
  10. What Sokol did (buy a stock first, then pitch the idea to Buffett without disclosing his holdings) is self-serving and reprehensible. Especially considering how petty the amount of gain (3 million) was, compared to his net worth (in hundreds of millions) which means it was more about the chutzpah and arrogance than the unjust enrichment aspect that was more alluring to him. One would think he would come to his senses by apologizing and make amends with his former boss, not just because it's right, but because it would lessen the damage this entire debacle has caused on his reputation. Belittling someone as influential and respected as WEB publicly (whether justified or not) is just digging your own grave IMO simply because in the public's eye, WEB has accomplished more in his lifetime than 100's of Sokols can ever dream about accomplishing.
  11. Speaking of Pabrai...anyone know what he returned for 2012? Thanks for the links btw :)
  12. Epic. Thanks for posting! Cheers and congrats on results! Regarding Cirrus - What did you see that made you think it was undervalued? You cite attractive management & culture, but also P/E of 12 during purchase. Was it a purchase about buying growth at a reasonable (cheap?) price?
