  1. No doubt. Russia does not have the resources that the US & Europe can provide for motivated fighters like Ukraine. This will get more and more costly for Russia. It took them 10 years to pacify Chechnya - Ukraine is vastly larger. This can go on forever with Western aid. Then nukes come into the conversation. NO ONE knows what Putin will do.
  2. Might try near Lewisburg, WV - lovely little historic town - close to Greenbrier River where there are tons of campsites. Also - New River Gorge around Pipestem State Park is beautiful. Bluestone Lake is pretty awesome. Not exactly heavily populated - so I think you're right on the land costs. Perhaps a realtor in the Hinton or Bellepointe area could help you?
  3. ^^ So much for the housing crash...
  4. Yup, terrific input Minseok
  5. ^^^ Of course! It's deflection. Don't want to fight crime or drill for oil - blame climate change for all your problems.
  6. ^^^^ We can only hope for 2 & 3
  7. Awesome - yup...
  8. ^^ Ah yes, the memories...and they disappear.
  9. Warren added a racquetball court to his home many years ago. That is likely been converted to his workout studio. I doubt he plays anymore at his age.
  10. ^^ Well, it is confusing. Inflation is not good, but wages are rising and the job market is very hot for the middle & working class. It's tough to get anyone to paint a house, construction, landscaping, etc. Even here in Illinois - where the economy has been stagnant for many years - jobs are all over the place - and houses are flying off the shelves. Wages have to move up for the working class. Why would we want to kill the only thing that is working well? You'd think an easy move would be to lower energy prices to insure a stronger economy, but that's not happening either. Makes no sense.
  11. Certainly would be bad news to see the Fed clobber the housing market, which is a huge bright spot in addition to the US jobs market. I've never seen such a strong job market in America in my entire life. Jobs are everywhere - for anyone that cares to work.
  12. Pretty clear there is a class war going on in the United States. It's not racial, although many, like BLM losers would like to have you believe this. It's the privileged elite class with 1 set of rules and the working class with another set. Virtue signaling media & elites & politicians telling everyone else what to do. Fostering racial division to keep power and influence. Clear as day. Absolutely terrible for the American way of life. Destroys the American dream. Destroying faith in the American system. Our leaders are not real leaders that care about the country. Certainly has drastic implications for the working class. Seems to be contagious to Europe as well - but you guys would know better than me.
  13. Damn - that is what you call Long tail...
  14. ^^ I'll be quite happy to see BABA come back. Pain seems to be my name.
  15. ^^ Great education on Nuclear. Thank you! I wonder how US costs compare, say to France?
  16. @Value_Added Nice post on nuclear. You know the business. Construction of new stuff is many times higher than in the '80's. Seems incredibly safe now - and efficient. What are the subsidy issues, if you don't mind expanding?
  17. ^^^^ @PelagicSuch a great article re: energy usage. This is what happens when you let Greta Thornburg and a bunch of idiots like AOC dictate your energy policy. Let's not build a pipeline to New England for cheap & plentiful Natural Gas in Pennsylvania, but instead pay 6X that rate to important LNG. You get what you vote for.
  18. ^^^ Yes, there is a lot to Charlie Munger's argument about the conservation of fossil fuels - it's a very wise thing. But that is a different argument than the climate change idiots make. In the meantime, civilizations need to advance. The 3rd world needs safe & reliable food and healthcare. The losers in climate change think they have the moral right to call the shots for everyone but themselves about energy usage - and withhold energy from others. I just disagree.
  19. Again - the flaw in this thinking is that you are sacrificing the living NOW to solve a problem that you may have no impact on.. We can all agree with your argument about conservation of energy and fossil fuels. Yes, we should conserve them and continue developing alternative energy sources. But you do NOT destroy the lives of millions in the process. There is an assumption in the Climate Change crowd that global warming is CAUSED by fossil fuels. NO one has proved that - it's all opinion. So on what moral grounds do you sacrifice the living for a problem, climate change, that MAY not be the cause. Climates have changed for millions of years - you are not acknowledging this FACT. Fossil fuels are needed for the living. What right do these Climate Change morons have to withhold them from the living? And they would have a lot more credibility if they followed their own lectures, which they don't.
  20. There is a tremendous amount of snow melt from the Sierra Nevadas into San Francisco Bay. Plenty to solve water problem for the CA Central Valley and agriculture. But the crazies run the state and so they will ration water just like they ration electricity. Just imagine - shutting down power plants in CA, then importing your energy from Utah coal burning plants. Just so you can say you are anti-fossil fuel.
  21. ^^^ It's Woke America in action. Every right/wrong can be legislated - just give the Party Masters more money and power for themselves. Gov can solve everything. But you're right about the brainwashing and indoctrination. The Woke crowd is a mile wide and an inch deep.
  22. No - some people are just plain dumb. They don't do absolutely fine. You want the USA to go back to 3rd world status, where millions of children die in childbirth and don't have enough to eat. Affordable fossil fuels insure that agriculture, fertilizers and healthcare systems are affordable and safe. That's the Al Gore view: Collateral Damage for the Climate Change Cause. Everyone but me. IF I didn't know you were such a smart guy - I'd swear you just don't care. But I'm sure you do.
  23. ^^^ It's definitely poor planning for population growth. Don't build any new reservoirs, tear down the old dams, cave to the environmentalist over the farmers and residents - and send all the fresh water out to the sea because you have NOWHERE to store it. The last few winters you had tremendous snow cap melt from the Nevada Sierras. Where's all the water now? In the Pacific Ocean
  24. ^^^ Absolutely right. Try getting nuclear past these politicians: safe, efficient, reliable - don't need the wind to blow or the sun to shine. The US could learn a thing or two from France.
