  1. I am looking at a small private company in the Fabric Finishing industry. Is there anyone out there that has worked in the industry or that is familiar with the business model? Thanks in advance. Best,
  2. Looking into the floral network business, recent FTD spinoff. Do any of you guys think that this business is operated in a oligopolistic structure? Thanks, 14
  3. Congratulations Sanjeev! Good things happen to good people.
  4. Does anyone have any suggestions on performance tracking? Thoughts on software or programs? I feel the need to improve in this area. Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Best,
  5. While reading the "ideas with catalysts" thread, oddballstocks brought up the important point of having the right metrics to value specific sectors. I have a list of ratios I found in a white paper for some sectors and would appreciate any comments. I am trying to better my valuation process. 6. Do teachers at our schools still push the asinine idea about efficient market theory? On the one hand I hope they don't, it just does not make sense and the kids believe it because the teacher told him/her so. On the other I hope they do. It provides us opportunities.
  7. It is a for sure read if you like Munger. Two others that you may like: 1. Seeking Wisdom from Darwin to Munger by Peter Bevelin 2. Poor Charlie's Almanack, it is the best! Best.
  8. I know you can do this with word, but would you use this service if it was available? Would you pay to use it? If so, how much?
  9. As I said in my original post, I look to people I admire for answers and that is why I presented my question to the wonderful people on this board. You guys are first class. I know there is no silver bullet. I also realize that this is something that one never gets over, you just get used to it. I sincerely appreciate all your thoughts and recommendations. All the best.
  10. A close friend of mine has a 10 year old son that has a tumor in his head and he doe's not have much time and there is nothing anyone can do. When I get into situations that I have no experience with I look at the people I admire most and look to see how they navigated the situation. I went through Franklins writings after he lost his son and he writes very little. I also went through Mungers writings and remember him saying he walked the streets for hours, but again not much. I would like to provide my friend with some knowledge or writing that may help him through the difficult time because that is the only thing that I can do for him and his family. If anyone knows of anything that I may have overlooked, please let me know. Any information would be helpful. All the best.
  11. I agree with Yours Truly. My two cents tells me, it would be crazy to jump in and out of the markets. Why would I want to sell a good company that is making money? Not only that, it would cost me money to do so.
  12. "Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is - the strong horse that pulls the whole cart." - Winston Churchill Best.
  13. I was entertaining the idea of starting a blog as a place to centralize my investing information, improve my writing skills and get better feedback on my ideas. I notice many of you have your own blogs and wanted to know your thoughts on which service is best, Wordpress or Google? Thanks.
  14. I know I have made my fair share of bad decisions. Now he has to live with the fallout. For those who were burned, I am with Kraven, you need to do your own "due dilly". I like that. For those who are disappointed, don't read his info or go to his site. pretty simple. I feel your reputation is like glass, easy to break and hard to mend and should be handled with care. hopefully he learns from his mistake. I only wish him the best.
