what is invested capital exactly and is it static?

Ok I'm not too fussed about what the exact definition of Invested Capital is but the most useful formula I find is Net working capital + Non-Current Assets - Excess Cash - Investments not related to operating business -
What are some investing resources that are unique to India? I've come across Equitymaster and Dalal Street Investment Journal but haven't found anything else. Is there a Valueline/Japan Company Handbook equivalent?
