Parsad Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Article on Muddy Waters. One hit wonder? Cheers! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-02-27/muddy-waters-losing-support-in-market-as-latest-calls-prove-inconclusive.html
Guest Hester Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 LOL, one hit wonder? So he's issued reports on 7 stocks total. 4 of them (TRE, CCME, RINO, DGW) have been halted, delisted, and have been a complete loss for shareholders. The government has determined all 4 have committed fraud. 1 of them (ONP) is still listed but is down over 50%. One of them is about even since before the report (FMCN), and the last one is up about 20% (SPRD). I think the low hanging fruit in the Chinese based fraud space has been picked so MW of course will lose some steam, but to call Block a one hit wonder is hilarious.
Radio Free Cash Flow Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Investors owe Muddy Waters a debt of gratitude for unveiling these frauds. MW brought a much-needed dose of skepticism and reality to the shady world of Chinese reverse mergers.

Are they going to be like Kynikos and build their reputation like Chanos on one big call (Enron) or is there more. It's a redundant question pertaining to the article. Cheers!

Well to be fair Chanos has had a few other good calls. I think it will be tough for MW to ever nail another fraud bigger than Sino Forest. At some point they will have to venture outside of Chinese US listed frauds. At that point, who knows if they (he) can keep success.

Did the gov determine TRE.TO is a fraud? I don't see any specifics on that.

I was going off the whole regulators forcing management out thing but I guess technically the gov hasn't conclusively stated fraud anywhere, just that there are major issues.
