UhuruPeak Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I am having a hard time understanding the purpose of your questions, basl1. Either I completely misunderstand you (and have completely misunderstood your last half dozen questions on this board), or you should probably spend more of your time on things you can control rather than performing intellectual masturbation of the sort. How could we know if BRK will buy Swiss Re? Say everyone here agrees that is what Buffett should and will do - it would actually be a pretty compelling argument to the opposite. We never know what the Oracle will do next; for the record, I also typically don't know what is in the future. Actually, I'm still trying to get over this one! :-[

philassor Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Thanks basl1, certainly a good rumor and a viable possibility.
basl1 Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Think about - he's bought Munich Re, Prem.s bought polish Re It's undervalued, he's invested to prop it up.
philassor Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Think about - he's bought Munich Re, Prem.s bought polish Re It's undervalued, he's invested to prop it up. And he already has a small stake in Swiss Re. The only thing is he is a little low in cash for this elephant... He said he likes to have substantially more than 10b in hand to handle potential catastrophic claims. So it is a seducing rumor but I am not holding my breath too much.
Crip1 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 We have read several rumors about what Berkshire/Buffett is doing or not doing over the years...I cannot recall any of them becoming reality. -Crip
