junto.investing Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I'm assuming several on the Board have taken this exam. Any recommendations on study guides / books?
dcollon Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I found the Kaplan books to be useful, but the in class work not worth a whole lot. The practice exams that you can take online are great for test prep and really all you need to do.
Eric50 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I've used the "Pass the 65" by Robert Walker and studied on my own for a few days before the exam. I thought the book was a good way to prepare and the author has a great sense of humor. Eric
junto.investing Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Are you doing it through work or on your own? On my own. Eric & dcollon, thanks for the suggestions.
Guest Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Are you doing it through work or on your own? On my own. Eric & dcollon, thanks for the suggestions. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but aren't you required to be sponsored by a company? I think it's that way for the 7 at least.
benhacker Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Sponsorship is not required for the 65... Ben
Guest Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Sponsorship is not required for the 65... Ben I'm wrong....again. :P
ragnarisapirate Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 This was really useful. Thanks for the suggestions, I trust you guys a lot more than the reviews on amazon. :)
racemize Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I found the Kaplan books to be useful, but the in class work not worth a whole lot. The practice exams that you can take online are great for test prep and really all you need to do. I'm looking at taking this test--pretty sure it is required for texas at this point. In any event, are you talking about the practice exam package that Kaplan offers online? I read the walker book wasn't that great, but perhaps that is wrong?
Palantir Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Do this: Read the Blue Kaplan book. Buy the Qbank, and just do those questions. You'll kill it.
racemize Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Perhaps, just this basic self-study is what you mean (it has the manual + the qbank)? http://www.kfeducation.com/securities/series-65
