Pedro Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I couldn't find the Intact thread so posting here. Moderators - feel free to move to appropiate area. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/u-k-s-rsa-gets-9-3-billion-takeover-proposal-from-intact-tryg-1.1518176
mranski Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Don’t think there is a thread, but there should be as this is a great Canadian P&C insurer. Intact recently exited the auto insurance market in BC, as the government is bringing in no fault at ICBC. The private insurers are having a tough time competing I guess. There is an army of litigation lawyers that will be losing work.
rb Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 More of a so-so/above average P&C that's quite richly priced.
John Hjorth Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Thank you for posting, Pedro, Also from a Danish perspective, this potential transaction is interesting. The Danish part of RSA is called Codan Forsikring [Danish for "Codan Insurance"]. The Danish P/C Insurance market is pretty much an oligopoly, consisting of Topdanmark, Tryg, Codan & If [if owned by Finnish Sampo]. I wonder if there would be regulatory hurdles related to the Danish part of this potential transaction with regard to competition. Personally, I have owned small positions now for quite some years in Topdanmark, Tryg & Sampo.
