Liberty Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 http://www.oddballstocks.com/2015/02/but-why-arent-there-activists.html Great post by Nate. Good reminder in the first part about the difference between theory and practice, and very interesting case study in the second part. Check it out.
Jurgis Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Yeah, good post. Honestly, that's the picture I had in mind anyway. One of the reasons I don't invest in companies that need an activist to give me good returns. My support is with you guys though. :)
giofranchi Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Why not to look for an entrepreneurial lawyer, who is willing to invest alongside you in this business opportunity? Your capital + his work for free, then you share the earnings, if and when earnings come. I have done so many a time and, though certainly not easy, it is possible to find people interested in a sound business opportunity. ;) Cheers, Gio
CorpRaider Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I believe Phil Goldstein has been active in a number of small and micro caps outside the CEF space. I've been toying the with idea of making a checklist type requirement that an owner-operator or activist or some other controlling non-passive shareholder must be in place before I invest in a company.
