Ham Hockers Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I'm trying to get a ball park estimate of the acquisition cost of a typical landfill, preferably in cost per cubic yard airspace remaining. Any help would be appreciated.
Ham Hockers Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Perhaps check WM, RSG, WCN annual reports? I've found very few acquisitions that are clean (i.e. no collection operations acquired). Pretty much none by the three you mention.
constructive Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 This one is $1.97 / cu yd. Sounds like a pretty good deal. http://www.bizbuysell.com/Business-Opportunity/Excellent-Income-Landfill-and-Transfer-Recycling-Station-for-Sale/662081/

I was coming up with closer to $3.00 / cubic yard for the assets I'm looking at. Seems in line given the difference in compaction rate and tipping fee.
DCG Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Maybe check Sears and K-mart's annual report. Landfill locator: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/StoreLocatorView?storeId=10151
robface Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 What are some good uses of landfills? I snowboarded an old landfill turned ski resort the other week, but is there any way to leverage the value of these landfills?
