  1. I had two orders under $70 and one at $71 but I removed those under $70 right before we started falling. Didn't believe we could ever possibly reach that price. ::) Premature accumulation is a bitch. Averaged in at $75,8 so no harm done. At the current market cap cash represents almost 25%. I'll let Buffett, Munger, Combs & co do the thinking.
  2. Only -0,35% now and because of the euro/dollar drop I am actually in the plus for today. Holding 80% in brk is crazy but this sure feels better than having a bunch of cash (while being scared to deploy it) or being invested in things that go down 5%/day. :-X I am thinking of trading in some of my FFH for DELL if FFH stays up enough. Not sure if I should act already...
  3. Huh? US futures are currently down over 2%. They were at -0,5% then I believe. ;) Volatile markets!
  4. I don't think he should given that many of the holdings have been trading at lower valuations than summer 2010. And maybe he is buying this very instant. :) And people said the same thing in 2008 when he went in "too early". They could have bought a bunch of things. - WFC is down a lot but already a very large size of the portfolio; - JNJ is still as cheap as last year; - WMT is even cheaper; - MA (but I doubt they would have bought a lot of it, not in the order of $1b+ imo); - ADM; - ... ?
  5. Lol, that $4.8/gallon is still low compared to Europe, thats 0,887€/liter. Here in Belgium we pay 1,64-1,67€/liter nowadays. Taxed to the max! 8)
  6. Yup. A continuing drop in the markets would also be welcome to deploy some more of that pile of cash. Float is growing fast too, I like it. Beautiful things will happen in a hardening market. :)

  8. Lets make our own version... http://elisemyers.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/child_candy_store.jpeg
  9. Point taken. :D
  10. On the other hand, when you add in the devaluation of the dollar the S&P500 is actually down to the level of august 2010. :-X That is how I look at it as a foreign investor. Am I wrong in doing so? Because that doesn't change much for US investors of course. My country's indice (BEL20) already went from 2750 points to 2223 points and tomorrow we probably open at 2125-2150. Euro stoxx 50 is at 2412 points coming from 3000 points! Those are 20%+ losses! I am down 5% for the year and feel blessed when I see those charts. (Just trying to put things in perspectie, especially for myself. If it doesn't make any sense -> ignore me! ;)
  11. Aren't we a happy bunch of kids in a candy store..! Having no cash left is worrisome because it feels even more like you are out of control in the short term. Switching positions to cheaper ones also seems much harder than deploying cash. But the alternative, passing on obvious bargains in the hope it gets cheaper, seems much worse. I would love to scale in with 1-2% at a time, but having a starters' portfolio in the lower range of 5 figures (student ;)) doesn't provide that comfort if you pay $10-15/overseas transaction. :'(
  12. Bought more of BRK.B. 80% is in BRK.B now, 16% in FFH. 4% cash. The beauty is that I am European so in the end my return in EUR is what counts. I'm confident in the end the dollar can be a nice hedge in an extreme market downturn. I could be way too soon but then again, I could just shift to "higher risk" stocks if the market plummets. Probably the reason I choose for more BRK today and not DELL or MSFT, it is way easier to buy.
  13. It may? Does anyone actually know when brk will report Q2 results? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Or does brk never announce this? Just want to know when I could have another major buying opportunity should mr market act crazy again! :) (Although today is very compelling. But I just bought at 73,60 again. :() edit : Bought more at $71. Almost fully loaded now unless I would drop some FFH but don't feel very confortable with that. I am probably buying to soon but I can't let a -4% day pass.
  14. I would be worried with my "all in bet" if analysts were positive on BRK. Thanks for the link. ;)
  15. I don't see owner management companies like BRK with current low valuations drop as much as the market. Downside for these companies seems relatively low compared to the broad market and upside potential is much much higher. This is why I don't believe very large cash positions are justified at the moment. If (and that is a big if) the market plummets 15-30% from here, I would probably drop a portion of BRK, FFH and move to some tech and pure financials if they get hit substantially.
  16. Time for a bump. Suddenly you see multiple topics popping up about the economic malaise. Also before, there were some topics about people questioning the us dollar, others looking to hedge against a us default, etc. Sentiment seems to change but I don't know exactly what has changed in the last week and month? Are others changing their view as well? ???
  17. Part of the game, eventually everything gets replaced. Even here in Belgium, where I haven't heard anyone talking about Google+, most news websites and others already included the "+1 button" and it is gaining share fast. Just like Parsad I never had any social networking account (And I am 22. Is that contrarian or what? ;x) but I can definitely see the appeal in Google+. The option to make separate social groups within your network is unique and will be attractive to a lot of people. It might even be something I would join! I like how it is linked with my gmail account and other things like google finance. I believe this really gives an edge that others don't have.
  18. http://www.hamincny.com/docs/Horizon_Commentary_1stQuarter_2011.pdf Very intresting read about P/B & ROE valuations of the S&P500 compared with BRK. (sorry for the spamming ;))
  19. 20% now. Wont be long before I put everything in it seems, although I told myself I would always keep at least 5-10% in cash. More than 50% of my portfolio is in BRK. I'll let Buffett keep the cash buffer, I'm confident he knows what to do with it. :)
  20. Another interesting contrarian investment by Wasra! :D Thank you for the links. When does FFH come out with the quarterly results? Next week?
  21. I'm 75% in USD, 25% in EUR as an European. Most in BRK.B Not like the Euro is any better and I don't see the same risk/reward posibilities in Europe. You are extremely late in hedging your USD position oddballstocks. At least, that's my opinion.
  22. Bought more today and will be "all-in" at $66-70 per BRK.B. 20% cash now. Good article : http://seekingalpha.com/article/282116-berkshire-hathaway-worth-its-salt

    MSFT

Exactly. They bought back over 5% of their shares in fiscal 2011. At current valuation + share buybacks all internal growth occuring is just extra sauce. Total cash, equivalents and st investments are almost $53b from $37b in 2010, I would like to see even higher share buybacks. I bet the market hates this : It's the same with Intel and it's stock that went down today after earnings. Even if the windows division is in irreversible decline, there are plenty of opportunities left to make up for it.

    MSFT

http://www.microsoft.com/investor/EarningsAndFinancials/Earnings/PressReleaseAndWebcast/FY11/Q4/default.aspx nice beat as expected. Stock up only 2,5%.
  25. http://www.gurufocus.com/news/138948/why-berkshire-hathaway-might-be-cheaper-than-it-was-in-2000 Lousy analysis but the discussion could get intresting. Not sure why I want to convince others tho. Maybe I am looking for someone to really break the logic in what I am saying..?
