Hi everyone! I am about to graduate school with an accounting degree and love thinking about strategy and the business environment. My only problem is it's hard for me to find people interested, like you guys here, in my current environment. Even asking professors for advice is hard to do--they just seem so uninterested. The average person on this board is far more intelligent than even my accounting professors. School has been interesting but I have learned an incredible amount over the internet. I was wondering if anyone wanted to communicate with me about ideas over email? I will try to make the relationship extremely symbiotic and am not looking for a free ride. I am not a creeper and am just looking for someone that is ambitious who wants to bounce ideas off eachother (PM and i can give you my email). Thanks again and sorry for taking up space, Josh.

Einhorn Calls on Microsoft to Fire Ballmer
collegeinvestor replied to Parsad's topic in General Discussion
welp...I wasn't there but it seems like he hasn't unearthed anything shocking this year. -
I don't like the option trade. People that are buying the leaps might end up making a lot of money in the future but why not just buy the stock if you think it's a good buy? Also the people that post on here are way smarter than me so I might be wrong but here is my analysis (very simple): The stock hasn't moved in 13 years what makes you think NOW all of a sudden the stock is going to move 2x and you will make a quick and easy fortune on your leveraged time-based "investment"? Seems odd....

I don't think you should base a double dip recession based on home prices... -
Wal mart looks good. JNJ looks cheap. I don't understand microsoft--or tech. I just don't see a catalyst for microsoft....

Yeah I just wonder whether this lawsuit will be a catalyst for the SEC investigation. -
Buffett and Sokol Sued Over Trading in Lubrizol Shares

At least he is a shareholder protecting his rights. As warren Buffett says we are partners...no matter how little or large you are as a shareholder. I think what David Sokol did was very wrong... -

Yikes! -
Creating wealth, though, is not a zero sum game and as someone gets wealthy they are also benefiting others in tandem. You don't get to take what you don't give.

I disagree with you Parsad. If you earn money in this world you should be able to determine how you spend your money. Taxes leads to people uninterested in creating enduring wealth for themselves and others.

I just don't get how this is not insider trading. I also don't get why Warren eventually decided to buy the company and what changed his outlook on Lubrizoil. Is there a chance that Berkshire exits the deal for 200mil?

I wonder if David still has the shares or if he dumped them already?

Just joshing you :P

The design is horrendous for o.co. This forum is designed better than their website. -

This is not good. Hopefully the fatalities are as low as the news is reporting. Hard to believe though. -
Warren Buffett Why not real estate investment?
collegeinvestor replied to collegeinvestor's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
I think I will change my question. Why do you think he has't included in his circle of competence real estate investment in general? Do you think there is something fundamental about real estate economics that he doesn't like? -
Warren Buffett Why not real estate investment?
collegeinvestor replied to collegeinvestor's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
I know he owns clayton homes (and the mortgage portfolio they own) as well as the RV manufacturer but why not straight real estate investment? I remember at one annual meeting he said something to the effect that "we don't understand real estate" or something along those lines. -
Hello, I was wondering why you guys think that Warren Buffett has never invested in REIT for berkshire hathaway to the best of my knowledge or even apartment complexes, hotels, office properties etc? thanks for the help.
