Canada paid to build a bridge. The U.S. paid to build a wall.

As Trump gets loonier and loonier and it becomes more obvious just how deranged he actually has become, we see less and less defensive posts on this board. It has pretty well now come down to a place where only the true cult members even bother to try and justify the lunatic's lies and antics. The damage he has done to the United States is immeasurable. We are now probably nearing an all out push by the administration to control or postpone the upcoming elections. Remember that old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times".

Rather than worrying about such things as Epstein and my personal ability to spell, or lack thereof, perhaps, just perhaps, you should concern yourself about your own President and his glaringly obvious dementia. Are you familiar with the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution? Or are you more concerned about Vance as president than Trump?
-
Is it not embarrassing for Americans to have their President cry and boohoo about the poor US being taken advantage by Canada? This is the same guy who now is acting like a spoiled kid wanting to get his name on Penn Station and Dulles Airport. But this really takes the cake, talk about grovelling, for crying out loud grow up. Oh no, not hockey. The guy is losing his mind!

Thanks. that's what happens when you are eating out with the better half and see a crawl on TV about Eddie Bauer filing for chapter 11.

Eddie Bauer files chapter 11

OMG I made a spelling error! Duh it is 'racist'. But ............ I would rather misspell the word ... than actively support one.
-
And we all know who posted it and where it was posted... Is there anyone here who still doesn't believe that Donald J Trump, President of the United States of America is a racist?
-
The video portrayed President Trump as a lion. Barack and Michelle Obama... as primates/apes. Kinda tells ya all ya need to know... No racism there?
-
Just to get the cult a little more excited and proud their great leader. Funny how how the Trump supporters never seem to be embarrassed about their leader's actions no matter how disgusting or deranged he is. It's always .... "Oh but look at what "fill in the blank" did 50 years ago". However, there are others that think Trump is only a bigot, not a raciest and I post this as just as one more example of how disgusting the present President of the United States actually is. Dude is raciest to the core. Remember the old story about how honest George Washington was when he confessed to cutting down his father's cherry tree? Trump would have stolen the tree and sold it to the Russians.
-
So now Trump posts a video of the Obamas made to look like apes in a jungle. And some still Think that Trump is not a raciest?
-
" They are total lunatics. The only thing they believe in is chaos..." Excellent description of the present administration. Good for you Cubs, right on dude!
-
Yes. And it is usually the most prolific posters on the right who complain. Is it because it must be embarrassing trying to defend Trump all the time?
-
Yes it used to be a post would appear immediately after clicking "Save" now there is a lag of 10? seconds or so.

You said... "But that's Trump's MO...get people scared enough to hate another group, and then run them out of town." ... and that's not raciest? Oh he is a raciest alright............. Just look at his remarks about Somalians and other Africans being 'garbage', except the whites from South Africa, of course. Trump has a long history of racism. That's not raciest? "U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out against Somali immigrants Tuesday, calling them "garbage" who "contribute nothing" to the country." How about "....Yusef Salaam was 15 years old when Donald Trump demanded his execution for a crime he did not commit. "Nearly three decades before the rambunctious billionaire began his run for president – before he called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States, for the expulsion of all undocumented migrants, before he branded Mexicans as “rapists” and was accused of mocking disabled people – Trump called for the reinstatement of the death penalty in New York following a horrific rape case in which five teenagers were wrongly convicted." Remember his rants about how Obama was not born in the US and he was actually African? How about his statement after a white supremacist rally, when he stated there were "very fine people on both sides" ? What about when Trump told four congresswomen of colour to "go back" to the "crime-infested places from which they came. Then there are the Haitians he accused of eating the dogs and cats in Springfield. "In 1973 the Department of Justice sued Trump and his company for refusing to rent to Black tenants. He settled the suit without admitting wrongdoing." Oh Donald Trump is a raciest alright, and has been for years.

Sorry, I meant violent criminals.
-
What is also very disturbing is the number of Americans that defend and approve and support of the actions of Trump and his administration, including a number of members of this message board. It is hard to see Trump's purge of immigrants as anything other than blatant racism. Deport the criminals - no problem. But to deport hard working individuals and families who are long term residents of the country is despicable. Funny how it seems that nearly all of the people being deported do not have white skin.

Sorry John, but I just couldn't stop myself.

Spent quite a bit if time in the Piniche area. My sister and her husband have a house with a cottage on the same property(free rent for me!) in the Areia Branca/Lourinhã area, just south of Piniche. Great area to visit and is called the Silver Coast, They spend most of the year there and only spend about three months in the summer in Canada now. Right now it is pretty cool and damp there in that area of Portugal.

Hey, hey that's a little harsh ain't it? Credit where credit is due. Mr. Kennedy was appointed by a president who had ground breaking thoughts on using UV light and ingesting bleach to combat Covid. I'm sure that between the two of them the present path to medical enlightenment is well on its way and a Nobel Prize in medicine cannot be far off.

Re Underamour, consider the following 1. Fairfax owns Peak Achievement Athletics Inc.. 2. Peak Achievement owns Bauer Hockey, "the world's leading manufacturer of ice hockey equipment, and other athletic brands". 3. Bauer Apparel seems to be quite popular, at least in my neck of the woods where I have noted several friends wearing jackets with prominent Bauer logos. 4 As it seems that Fairfax has been quite active in the sports apparel space, they likely have plans of integrating Under Armour with Bauer. 5. Fairfax has also been accumulating shares in another Canadian company, Lululemon., 6. Bauer has a has a "Lululemon Apparel Collection" advertised on their website. So. There seems to be a pattern forming here. As I have said before many times, Fairfax knows so much more then we shareholders know about these businesses and their own future plans, that we need to trust that management knows what it is doing. If one doesn't, one should probably be investing elsewhere.

It's like a jealous former lover. When going through a divorce years ago my (female) lawyer said to me. "Don't let her see you with another woman. She may not want you but if she sees you with someone else she will be impossible to bargain with." So in effect, the US is saying we don't to trade with you, but we don't want to see you trade with anyone else.

Don't know why the debate. Seems cut and dried. Pretty simple. ICE pushes girl to ground. Man leans over to help her up. ICE swarms man ICE throws man to ground ICE disarms man ICE shoots disarmed man 10-14 times ICE stand back and clap Unarmed man, lying on the ground, shot 10-14 times. Murder at the worst, criminal negligence at the least. Just a miracle ICE didn't shoot each other.

Sheesh! you are taking something said in jest pretty seriously. So let me clarify... In the early 1800's, what is now Canada was essentially British and included Upper Canada and Lower Canada. The War of 1812 was between British troops and American troops who were raiding Canada. American troops raided and burned Toronto in 1813. British troops burned Washington in retaliation. PS. You incorrectly stated: "The colonial militias sat back and focussed on defensive protection of their territories in Upper and Lower Canada - they were not invading the US territory." To clarify: "British North America (Canada): Local Canadian militia, British regulars stationed in Upper and Lower Canada, and maritime fencibles (such as the 104th Regiment of Foot, raised in New Brunswick) defended the border and conducted raids along the Great Lakes and the New England coast." Happy now?
