  1. That was a total waste of time, Thompson will do nothing.
  2. 'Defer to Congress' When? You've had 13 years.
  3. It's an horrendous answer. They really aren't looking to let them leave. It's week one day one stuff now, there is literally no excuse.
  4. All this crt kool aid is just so tiring. Either none of them care about the economics or they choose not to see the problem. Really doubting the chance of exiting conservatorship outside of the courts, except maybe 2027/8. They could consider the pspa paid and the rate of capital gain still won't allow them to earn their way out. Really don't see why people see Thompson as a competent and good pick, just building favour I suspect.
  5. I thought one of you mad lads made a fake but wow that seems legit.
  6. Added more. Can't decid if I'm mighty brave or mighty stupid
  7. I haven't spent much time in the space but liked what I saw with cronos (cron).
  8. I think it's positive. Think the treasury will comment on GSEs in September?
  9. Be interested to see if there's anything in the earnings report saying management think the recap plans have changed.
  10. Preferred definitely the play at these prices in comparison to common.
  11. The pspa benefited the fhfa as regulator because it was the only deal available, and without it receivership was the only option. It had to take it to avoid receivership. Prove me wrong. On the flip side a truly independent regulator should of used that as leverage to negotiate a workable deal. And also not entered into the 3rd amendment.
  12. I guess the government had a plan to get rid of the GSEs and all three branches are aligned to allow it.
  13. Big brain legal experts opinion on the below please. Any truth? Would it even matter if no one is watching? Would Republicans use it to negotiate? I don't even know anymore. How can the court agree its unconstitutional but deny the remedy? I knew the game was rigged but there was hope. What little hope there was. Gone.
  14. Putting a pin in this until September. And more than likely another pin until 2027...
  15. Ultimately I'm in this because of the business rather than the lawsuit. The hope was the court would force the government's hand. It's risky now as it's not known what the government will do, but I'm reminded that bill Ackman is a non litigating shareholder. The businesses are some of the best in the world. Just hope it stays that way. Hold and add if price goes to the literal pennies for me.
  16. This is fucking mental. Even if they should, we can't make the crooks give the money back for some reason. Oh and by the way, we'll rule differently in the exact same situation in the future. The government made a law to protect itself, dealt with itself, and ruled for itself. The courts ain't independent.
  17. I did think that this does technically mean the litigation is resolved. Something is coming to mind regarding there being <$6b of claims outstanding to raise capital. But where that is coming from I don't know. If the plan is the plan and now the litigation is resolved the prefs are good if the plan isn't liquidation. Maybe! Also, yes I fully expect them to push this past September.
  18. What I hope happens is that Republicans use calabria's high capital requirement to negotiate and they are released with less capital required.
  19. Good. At least now calabria's nonsense and fucking about ends.
  20. But we've learnt the law doesn't matter...
  21. The only potential positive is lower capital requirements possibly under Biden. If govt does restructure then it may help. But none can buy now unless they expect the govt to restructure and why would they?
  22. The prefs have dumped about 65pct vs the commons 35pct. That's funny. Must be a few funds offloading all.
  23. He kept adding. I went in but never in debt. Overall about a 10pct position but mainly due to some other gains, was much higher than that. It will be interesting what happens there. The news is hard to take for all but he's fully invested financially, and emotionally.
