  1. Yeah, with stocks it seems much easier to just keep on doing what you are doing, reallocating when you get older as needed, and then leave instructions/guiding principles for spouse/family. My family has some small real estate holdings, and those were much more of a pain to pass on. Not very liquid and harder to divide and manage. I imagine even more difficult with a small business.
  2. depends how high that one stock goes.
  3. I feel like you want to say 6 7, but don't want to perpetuate that meme. =P
  4. I still adore Costco. If the majority of my fam weren't vegetarians, I'd shop a little more frequently.
  5. Same or different doctor?
  6. Someone said this was an interesting article regarding the Howden vs Brown, now legal fight. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/naughty-very-nice-brandon-schuh-mjs1c/ Thinks through implications of trial win and - if any - damages.
  7. This comment resembles my portfolio! I have more less than 1% position though.
  8. Ben must be lurking in the thread and took @CoGreenwich&Laight's comment to heart.
  9. That's not going to help with liquidity!!!!!
  10. I mean, you can have a pretty good life with C$600,000 per year. Especially if you include 6% - 9.8% ownership interest in $40 billion dollar company.
  11. Selling a 20%+ stake usually means some discount? Or maybe premium?
  12. Isn't IIFL Cap in the public securities bucket already?
  13. could be indicator that it was over priced for awhile?
  14. I don't think this is wholly accurate, but I'm mainly basing it on the airline purchases, which ... may be true or politically tinged cut. Or TSMC.
  15. Prem lurking on the LULU and CROX bets, and want to play same rebound but with something else?
  16. THe HD thread is relatively quiet. You still like HD?
  17. Why wouldn't one of the asset manager just buy it from FNF prior? Why would it need a spin off? Tax reasons?
  18. I'm solidly at around the SP500 range +~17%. Has been uphill battle past few years as one 30% position has been largely underperforming, this year up 8%. It's also mostly in my taxable account so ... I'm kinda stuck unless I pay the tax piper. Not making excuses, just really not sure how to fix this other than really execute with the remainder of the portfolio.
  19. Thank you. All pretty interesting.
  20. Brookfield Corp and one of the sub (infrastructure or renewable for example) was making a massive purchase.
  21. How would Brookfield structure this?
  22. Gore Mtn was one of my favorite when I was a kid! Seeing it mentioned brought back a bunch of fond memories. We were lucky enough to get about a foot of new snow the day before we got to the resort. For my boys, it was probably perfect, and they spent most of the days there in group lessons. I snowboarded with them on the last day and conditions were - while probably not prime west powder - still decent; I'd say like a very good east coast day. My oldest kid was so sad when we first got to Denver because the forecast was still bleak, especially as a blizzard bore down the east coast area. Turned into glee as the snow reports came in. Hope you got similar luck in the alps!
