With BRK trading at roughly 1.4x book-value, and Buffett talking about how intrinsic value is MUCH higher then its stated book value, you wonder at what point they will increase the stated stock buyback. I actually it is more imminent then most investors think.
See the below clip were Buffett says ‘If it ever gets to $100bn or $120bn or something like that – we may have to increase the price (of the buyback)’
My guess is that he talks a bit about this in the next chairmen’s letter

You will see a drop of almost $30bn in Berkshire's deferred tax liability...which flows directly into an increase in book value. That is why the stock has been on a tear recently. It's a really big deal. Assuming a drop in the DTL, the B-Shares trade at just 1.4x BV. Not unreasonable by any stretch. Buffett should start buying back Berkshire's stock...

Great interviews ! thanks for sharing.
Very much so...even 'predicted' what would happen to GM, when CR was pushing him why he didnt want to buy the company...
best series of interviews on WEB!!

Fairly important update...
Let's see how this plays out...

I cant post the report, but I thought it was very well written...I really enjoyed reading about all of the different business lines. JPM believes the B shares are worth at least $210, with upside.

Its a nice positive...take it for what it is

I bought AXS, RE and a bit of AHL. Those stocks have been battered enough discounting a 100 year event. I think the well managed insurers keep exposure to a 100 year event to <20 % of their book value.
Agreed - I picked up XL Group on Thursday...the Storm's path has shifted materially to the western part of FL, which is less density populated then FL's eastern cost...

Many Insurance + Reinsurance stocks have off between 10% - 20% this past week due to Cat 5 Irma approaching southern Florida...Starting this thread as there maybe some ideas...
I've been looking at RNR and XL...

The Fund has lost 89% of its assets from its peak in 2011...of course to meet liquidations BB has had to sell a bit of everything...plus use cash. Worth keeping in mind.

maybe...I thought the same thing...

Thats b/c we all see the upside in the situation...
The preferreds should be trading back at $25 par...with YEARS of coupons PAID BACK to owners. We have a damn contact with the company!!

There is a lot of damning evidence here at a minimum…Nice to see the Preferred’s rallying smartly on this news. Still 3-1 upside. One has to wonder why only the NYTimes article is the ONLY press on this news…I found the Blackrock Solutions analysis very interesting…Would be interesting to know what others thought?

Count me the latest bag-holder of the preferreds...(bought last week)
I found this to be a very interesting talk:
