  1. Thanks everyone. I'm taking suggestions/feedback too, so if there's anything additional you'd like to see, please let me know and I can see if it can be included.
  2. Haha would be nice, but I think they're getting out of the Finance game unfortunately...
  3. I was thinking the same thing how about something like this: Portfolio Over Time
  4. I might be able to arrange something if you're interested
  5. Thank you! Yes, I'm working on the sorting functionality and should have an improvement next week. Out of curiosity, how would you like to sort? I think default should be position size for the individual portfolio, and total # of investors for the Total Portfolio; otherwise it just becomes the Berkshire portfolio.... Performance is going to be a challenge without opening up my wallet. Right now just trying to see if there's a market for it, and if so, I can invest more accordingly. I like to consider myself a steward of shareholder capital... :P Yes, I prefer the sort order to be "% of total portfolio" and "total # of investors". The best way to see if there's a market, IMO, is to ask if people are willing to pay. If you think of the project as a learning experience then it's a win-win for you regardless of the outcome. That's the plan. So, are you willing to pay....? ;)
  6. Meaning my screen could be improved or Dataroma's screen? There are some performance-related issues with letting users see the entire portfolio history on a single page (rather than having to filter to a specific quarter), but long-term it's something I would like to do. FWIW I never found the Dataroma history page all that useful just because it's presented poorly. But I think given enough time and resources I could improve upon it. This one for example, like you said, it could be better. http://www.dataroma.com/m/hist/p_hist.php?f=aq Yeah that's the one I had in mind. Always kind of felt it was worthless... I had something in there originally that I thought was better, but it needs more work which is why I didn't include it in v1. Here's the early draft if you're interested: https://public.tableau.com/profile/mine.safety#!/vizhome/MineSafetyDisclosures/MobileIndividualPortfolioOverTime

  9. Reading my mind.. I too feel there's a dearth of quality info out there and I have to go to a bunch of different sites for the info I want: Screeners: Datorama, GuruFocus, WhaleWisdom Shareholder/Fund Letters: Reddit, CoBF, Mailing Lists Company Research & Analysis: CobF, Reddit, Seekingalpha, VIC News: Reddit, CobF, Yahoo News, Seeking Alpha Data & Financials: YCharts/Morningstar and I don't "love" any of them save for maybe ycharts. They either have tons of junk/spam, bad user experiences, and a general spammy feel. So very long-term, I would love to build a premium service that performs all these functions with a nice user experience. But to start, I'm going to focus on a Screener, Shareholder/Fund Letters, and high-quality company analyses (if anyone wants to do a write up for it, please let me know and I'll be glad to discuss more). If I can get some paying customers for this those first 3 offerings, I'll just reinvest it back into adding more value in the form of high-quality news, and possibly company financials. I definitely think there's a market for it. What other features would you need to see in it today so that you would become a paying customer? And what do you think is a fair price? I think most of the other options out there—like $800/year—for GuruFocus are way too high and I would probably come in much lower than that.
  10. Here's v1 of the Berkshire look-through earnings portfolio: http://minesafetydisclosures.com/individual-investor-portfolio I will be doing a lot more to improve this over the coming months, but just wanted to share the progress so far for initial feedback.
  11. I've been a longtime user of other 13F screeners, but have found them cumbersome, buggy, ugly, and unintuitive. I also always wanted to see other information about the stock (e.g., valuation metrics), so a few months ago I decided to build the tool I always wanted. So here's v1: Collective Portfolio Individual Investor Portfolio The "Total Portfolio" is comprised of all the holdings of ~130 top investors, and the individual portfolio lets you filter to a specific investor and see their individual holdings. This is still very much a work in progress, but wanted to post the first version here for initial feedback. I may try to turn it into a little side business once all the kinks are worked out, but for now it's free for people on CoBF. I would appreciate ruthless criticism and feedback so that I can continue to improve it and make it a tool that people will enjoy using (and some day pay for).
  12. Thank you! I'll be posting it along with a 13F screener in the next few days. All feedback is welcome, as this is very much a work in progress and I want to make it as useful as possible.
  13. Thanks for the feedback on how overwhelming it is to look at. I'm so used to my layout that I can just jump to the info I need, but I can see it would be useful to add a summary worksheet that appears first, showing much simpler more digestible information. A project for the future perhaps. I'll try to post a new topic if I complete that so that those reading the forum would know about it having changed. Dynamic Glad you're open to feedback, and sorry if I came off as critical. I know there's tons of very useful information in there, but I just get overwhelmed with all the colors and various columns. I have many models/spreadsheets that only I really understand how they work, and I realize it's a challenge to present the data in a way that is both comprehensive and easy for someone who is completely new to the data to understand.
  14. Could try Gurufocus. I believe they have each of these. Is Gurufocus worth the cost?
  15. Seems like people here haven't actually read the article. While they are discontinuing the Portfolio feature of Google Finance, they've actually confirmed they're going to be developing the Google Finance product again for the first time in years. Overall, this seems like a good thing to me since Yahoo Finance is pretty crappy..
  16. Someone on here I think put together a BRK look-through earnings spreadsheet. Personally I found it a little overwhelming to look at, but I believe others find it very useful. I'm in the process of building a 13F screener, and look-through earnings will be included in it. Will take another month or two but I'll post it here once it's completed.
  17. MSR at 14x vs Utilities at 19x seems like it should be reversed? But doesn't really change the big picture...
  18. What I'm building will have this option Meaning if GOOG = 1% of total S&P market cap, and Investor X has 10% in their portfolio, they would be 10x overweight versus benchmark? At the start it will only go back to Q2 2013 since the SEC made scraping 13Fs easier then. I'm trying to go back earlier but it may be challenging This will be difficult, and a lot of it comes down to how you measure performance and the quality of data. I'm open to suggestions, but there are a whole number of challenges with presenting this in a clear, fair, and meaningful way. For example, what do you do about dividend payouts, acquisitions, spin offs, etc... it's very very hard to track with only a quarterly snapshot of each investor's portfolio. I'll have this laid out more cleanly than the other 13F trackers that currently exist, but probably won't have sector.
  19. Good idea to look at periods of heavy buying. I also think looking at who sells or buys when there is turmoil in the markets is another interesting one. I'll play around and see what I can come up with.
  20. Never heard of it but does look similar. I think the user experience is a step down from Dataroma though.
  21. I'm working on a project similar to Dataroma, and am trying to improve upon a few parts of it. Additionally, I'm looking for alternatives (e.g., GuruFocus) that might have helpful data as well. I think a lot of the data can be presented more clearly (e.g., charts and graphs), and would also like to see valuation metrics like average P/E, ROE, P/B, per an individual investor's portfolio. So what does everyone wish Dataroma did more of?
  22. There's a number of smaller investors that are great, but harder to follow them since they're not required to file 13Fs. Is there a way to follow their investments other than reading their quarterly/annual shareholder letters?
