Putin spent the last 5 years of his life and 50 billion dollars to refine Russia's and his own image in the world. He flushed that all down the toilet without hesitation for Ukraine. Tells you how important and non-negotiable this is for him. In terms of sanctions, what can they do ? Is europe/asia going to stop purchasing energy they desperately need ? They don't really export much else.
