  1. Ohh well. Blue balls it continues to be.

    Congrats on 1k!

It's always fun when a non-millionaire mocks a group of millionaires on how patient they are being for a thesis to play out.

Wow. Hey man. You tilted? That’s a pretty un-Jesus like comment. I mean would Jesus try to insult a person by saying he’s a millionaire and you’re not?

Honestly, it’s kinda the sign of a douche bag. Lol, Anywsys I’ve made money on trading this. Lol.

  2. Like returning these kids back to their parents, Trump has the ability to make things whole for shareholders. The power is with him. Not the Democrats. Republicans control congress. :)

Got that tax overhaul through strange they can muster up the support for either of these.  Ohh well. Blue balls it continues to be.

    Congrats on 1k!

Edit: Ohh and Happy Fathers Day, especially to those that were taken.

  3. That sounds great. I ordered Storm of Steel. I already had it on a list somewhere, but there's a better chance I'll get to it within the next decade if I own it..

Another worthy read i found is Poilu. This one actually is about a French barrel maker who actually kept 19 notebooks throughout the war. By Louis Barahas.

As I read these stories its hard to imagine we live on the same planet. He lives through Verdun. Hard to imagine some of this stuff is less than 100 years ago.

Here's a The Great War video on him.

  4. I've read the Leckie book 100% due to BOB.

The thing that I found compelling about Steel is that it more or less just copies and pastes from the notes that junger took during the war. Much different style than the others that i feel are edited.

The feel of Steel in my view is much more like reading the raw un-polished thoughts where as the others explains things to the readers and is just a different style.

But Im a sucker for letters and diaries vs a polished book.

  5. Treasury's argument that a recovery for shareholders is possible (unknown and un-timed) is a straight arrow to the heart of the nationalization argument by plaintiff, so it is worrisome. Not to mention an acceptable delay strategy, as a recovery might be possible... within the next 1000 years.

except i didnt see the judge concerned with nationalization buying it

And wouldn't that argument be analogous to something like: "I didn't steal your property, I just took it but I could return it under some nebulous circumstances thus absolving me of theft".

as i recall this was from ms wright, treasury counsel, who was hardly inspiring confidence.  it was a very weak response, which only added to her lack of credibility imo

You are all correct. But we better be lucky.

Does anyone know why the FHFA and Treasure are still fighting hard in these courts if they're friendly to shareholders in their future plans? Isn't a court win a good windfall for Mnuchin's shareholder friendly plan? Why aren't they weakening their stances?

Because DOJ is still controlled by Obama. Just look at how DOJ refuses to hand over documents Congress requested, and how Rod Rosenstein threatened to investigate every one of Congress Intelligence committee member. If DOJ has the ball to fight Congress, it definitely has no problem fighting against FnF shareholders.

  6. get ready for a number of these in the next few years. munger, web right off the top. every year in omaha could be their last.

there's only one left from the war generation in my family.  each year theres a new class who just gets introduced to the markets and they only get younger. c'est la vie.

  7. I recently had double inguinal hernia surgery (done in 2 stages, 3 weeks apart.)

I was prescribed x40 Oxycodones after each procedure.

The 1st procedure, I took all but about 8 or 10 of the pills which I found out was unnecessary.

For the 2nd surgery, I quit taking the pills on day 3 following the procedure & started taking Motrin.

This was perfectly adequate to control the pain (nothing but time would take care of the discomfort.)

I had a follow up exam recently & asked the surgeon why they prescribe x40 pills & got what I thought was a bullshit answer.

(I totally trust this guy with regards to the procedures performed but believe that he & others are a bit aggressive with the prescription pad.)

I still have a full bottle from the 2nd prescription & a few pills from the 1st one.

(gotta Google how to dispose of these properly.)

Here's a quick article on all the finger pointing going on.

I just can't help but think that everyone is pointing in the wrong direction.

  8. A copy of Judge Sweeney's scheduling order entered this afternoon is attached to this e-mail message.  Judge Sweeney directs that (a) amended complaints be filed by Feb. 22; (b) motions to dismiss be filed by June 22; © responses be filed by Sept. 20; and (d) the government's reply be filed by Dec. 19.  Judge Sweeney's order also denies without prejudice the government's supplemental motion to dismiss (Doc. 161) that attempted to segregate shareholders based on the dates they acquired their shares.

  9. What are some of your biggest losers in 2017? For anyone brave enough to admit to them.

Edit: I should clarify....doesn't have to be exact or anything. Just something that hasn't worked in 2017 that is still in your portfolio or was in there for a large part of 2017. Doesn't even need to be a single one....lets hear all of your losers.

  10. If Fairholme files a third motion to compel, we won't see that until mid-January, at the earliest.  The timetable under Judge Sweeney's Nov. 9 order gives three of Fairholme's lawyers 21 days to review the documents after the government makes them available in a secure facility.  Fairholme will send the government a list of the documents it wants in the next seven days.  The government has 21 days to review that list.  A ten-day negotiating period follows, and Fairholme then has seven days to file another motion to compel if the government won't give Fairholme the documents it wants.

Thats what I get. Basically the same. Is the quarterly distribution to the treasury( which was halted)...is that cumulative or do the excess amount over the buffer still go to the treas.?
