Just curious does anyone know the ratings for the underlying companies. I know Moody's just gave Northbridge A3. I was wondering if most had A3?

Hello I seldom post because I don't believe I have the same investing chops as many on this board. I do have a question that I hope someone can help educate me. Moody seems to consistently give Fairfax a bbb rating. I have just come from the annual meeting and Prem is talking about the cash rich Fairfax is. What would it take to get Moody's to give Fairfax an A rating of some sort? Secondly do you feel that rating would open more conservative investors to look at buying shares increasing prices?

Tomm, I am with you there. I think the Am Best rating is one of the major reasons why market behaving like it does towards Fairfax.I don't know why there is not the discussion. I thought alot of Fairfax's moves the last 3 years were influenced partly by this and lessons from there past.

Hi Tommm I always wondered what is up with AM Best as well.I wonder if something happened when fairfax was going through its tough patch and Am Best have a long memory. I thought they were one of the few agencies Fairfax was willing to talk with. Is it Fairfax not paying enough for their services? I remember it being said many times on this board that once they got the rating up to investment grade this stock will take off. Well in my books it is I am just waiting to see when AM Best realises it.

Hi Ericopoly Mass media is probably a poor choice of words.What I meant was the major networks not just a comedy channel show which not everyone would subscribe.

Just watched to see what the hoopla was about. It was great tv. The only sad part is that it took a comedian to start taking some of the wall st. boys to task and a lot of Jon's arguments will be ignored by the mass media outlets.It just goes to show how the people you think were suppose to be looking out for the interest of the common investor are the wolves in sheeps clothing. Like someone said I don't know what Cramer's agenda was but he certainly ended up in flames

I too have some concerns with my overall weighting in Fairfax. But it has far outshined the rest of my positions.Do you keep holding on to your winner where you have faith in the captain of the ship or diversify where you don't have the same confidence?
