You're right about people voting for certain issues they support. But I think it is a mistake not to vote simply because you don't like either candidate. A large percentage of voters (maybe even most?) probably didn't "like" either candidate but any informed individual could discern the difference between the major policies pushed by each candidate. It is those policies that matter in day to day life; not the individual at the top who take the credit or the blame.

Agreed - there is no justification and any attempt to justify his, or any other politically motivated murder is shameful. And I didn't even particularly like Charlie Kirk.
-
But that's just it - "All in the Family" was hilarious because it was a PARODY on the issues of the day that were quickly changing for the better. I was around back then and we are vastly more divided today.

Accidental shootings are just that - accidents. Accidental deaths happen far more frequently with vehicles. Should cars be banned? What about people who fall off cliffs while hiking - should we ban hiking on mountain paths? Sometimes I feel like your posts demonstrate the stark difference between prevailing attitudes of Canadians vs. US citizens on certain issues.

Curse me Kilts!! What is the hell is point of any of it anyway?

John, didn't mean for it to come across that way but setting goals early on and learning from mistakes has made the latter part of life much easier. And of course, kudos to Buffett and Munger who had a very large influence over many of my decisions. -
That's a terrible family tragedy. My familiarity with suicide involves several family friends and after decades I still can't come up with any answers. To your other point I think most people are tolerant of others, it's just those "others" who are outspoken that often dominate the public narrative.

Yep. Getting ready to board a plane and just took part in a 9/11 ceremony in the terminal. A day that should never be forgotten or ignored.

Charlie Kirk acknowledged that the privilege of gun ownership sometimes results in gun deaths. This is, and should be no great revelation. Personally I don't own a gun but very much support the 2nd Amendment. Guns don't kill, shooters do.

Nothing you buy for personal enjoyment should cause you stress. Otherwise, the purchase defeats the purpose. For me, the goal was to reach the point where money was no longer a concern. That point is different for everyone. Once you reach that point you no longer worry, or even think about "outperforming" anything or anyone and you buy what you want when you want. As individual investors we only compete with ourselves; the goal is to win the competition as early as possible so as to enjoy life as much as possible. -
Unfortunate, yet all too predictable in this political climate.

I had to laugh - I get a new book from the local library every week! -

Everything you do in life, including what you spend is about priorities. Do what you enjoy the most, including a pool if that's your thing (its not mine but I live on the water and after last year would now prefer to be far away). Balance your needs and wants. Make sure you have enough to cover your needs so you don't feel guilty about spending on your wants. -
Objective folks here see this as Trump being Trump. We don't have to like or agree with everything he says or does. Why should his comments about annexing Canada be an issue if most Canadians would vote against it anyway? People who haven't yet figured out that Trump often talks just to make a point or merely to get under someone's skin don't understand Trump at all. But those of us who want a stronger, safer US free from many left-wing policies that were leading us over a cliff will take the bad with the good. Anyone judging the results of his presidency now are allowing ideology to stand in the way of fact. Many of his policies are in fact new, bold and controversial. Yet those of us who voted for him voted for substantial change. The results will speak for themselves. And oh by the way, who said life is always fair?

Thanks for that. Normally appeals are limited to mistakes made by the trier of fact based solely on the evidence presented. But again, I hope it leads to a swift settlement because it costs a lot of money to try years' worth of cases even if when you are successful.

Again, you're putting yourself in the position of Constitutional scholar of a country you don't even live in? Maybe alienating other countries is precisely the point for now in order to alter behavior and perhaps the military is exactly what is needed to stem the tidal wave of crime. I just don't understand your obsession and persistent whining. Move here and vote if it is that important to you; that is the effective way to voice your opinion. Repeating stale talking points from a sorry MSM does not help the cause.

Sanjeev, the question is irrelevant and you know it. There are posters in this thread who use very chance they can to deride the POS. My question is why? You all either were asleep from the time he ran for his first term or you have nothing better to do with your time. My comments here on this thread are entirely in response to the nonsense posted here daily by people who let Trump run their lives.

They used to march in my neighborhood. You bring back fond memories of my days picking juries way back when. One or two questions and then an easy strike for cause. Impartiality is hard to fake.

Don't confuse him. He's on a roll.

Yep. K-Mart sucks.

LOL, 5 minutes to Wapner.

Uh, no. What is it about Jean Carroll, $83 million and a lot of greedy, hungry lawyers that you don't understand? Hell, someone can probably make up a story and have no trouble finding a lawyer to take her case.
-
Me and my MAGA friends? You lost me.
-
Come again? There are 83 million reasons why lawyers would be crawling all over themselves if there were any actual victims. And if legitimate, it was a birthday card, not a letter. Who cares?

Jogging vs Sprinting and Performance Returns

@Saluki The following is not intended as advice for you or anyone, but this is what worked for me in "retirement": Its been 25 years since I received a paycheck of any kind. The first key for my own investment freedom was to have a lot of cash available at all times. Cash can be in bank savings, MMFs, short term bonds or any substitute that you feel is safe and liquid. How much cash is up to you. The second key is to own at least some investments that generate a lot of cash. The investments can consist of anything - stocks, bonds, private investments, real estate, private businesses, etc.. And finally, the third key is to have no debt. Then, adjust your lifestyle so that your income vastly exceeds your spending. That's it. -
Entertainment at its best. Sorry its at your expense. Now you can have the last word.
