Billionaires didn't get rich by investing in index funds? Ugh...how about insider trading and/or excessive fees then?

He also mentioned Gabelli. When you run a dozen funds, of course some will out perform. I looked up a couple of his older ones:

I literally am looking at his longest managed funds (per morningstar)

 

The only one I saw that has done well besides the one listed about is his market neutral fund. Perhaps he has others that are better performers though.
