OracleofCarolina Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303513404577352221465986612.html?mod=googlenews_wsj Great brand, no debt, founder in his 70s,founder never wants company to go public or to lever itself up in search of rapid growth. Small company but would make a nice addition for a Berkshire, markel, or Fairfax..just thinking out loud here... Cheers!
Liberty Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Chouinard's autobiography, Let My People Go Surfing, is an excellent book. I recommend it. http://www.amazon.com/Let-People-Surfing-Education-Businessman/dp/0143037838/ Great company too. No idea how profitable they are, but their are pioneers in my things including the environmental protection angle.
rogermunibond Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Would make sense for Chouinard to sell to REI. Although that could hurt their relationship with other outdoor retailers.
