Charlie Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) What do you think are the Trappings of Wealth? Kids in private education, very big house, luxury holidays, eating out regularly at the best restaurants, always buying the newest expensive car, leaving too much money to your children, buying expensive luxury items, becoming lazy, full bladder effect: That you "piss" your money out or buying a lot of things you don´t need. Don't realizing your deeper reel needs and succumb to superficial needs that are marketed to you. Getting to think that you know everything, Getting too much ego, Envy....? Masterofnone Posted November 13 Posted November 13 It is a turn of phrase, but to me, the "trap" is money insulates some from the realities of experience and blunts compassion and empathy.
Saluki Posted November 13 Posted November 13 There used to a segment on the Adam Carolla show called something like "Rich man, Poor Man", where they talked about things that rich people and poor people have in common, but not the middle class. Having 10 kids is something Elon Musk has in common with a lot of hood rat dead beat dads. Giving your kids unconventional names, not vaccinating your kids etc. Not going to college, not working, and expensive clothes are the trappings of wealth, but also the trappings of poverty.

HubbadaPow Posted November 14 Posted November 14 volunteer work and charity. Some of the best wealthy people I know show up for each other when there is a cause, fundraiser, political appointment, church work, etc. If you're not wealthy, I don't know how you could find the time or receive an invite.
