  1. I'm currently reading this book and quite enjoying it. Even though I've been listening to the podcast for 7 years, the book is hitting differently, and harder in many ways, and making me do some life changes: Outlive: The Science & Art of Longevity - New Book by Peter Attia (peterattiamd.com)
  2. If you're old enough to have played Doom and Quake, this interview with John Romero is good: Doom Legend John Romero — The Path to Prolific Innovation and Making 130+ Games, How to Find the Soul of the Work, Audacious Ambition, and Building in Monk Mode (#681) - The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss This almost 4-hour interview with Richard Rhodes, author of the pulitzer-winning Making of the Atomic Bomb, is just AMAZING: #146: The Making of the Atomic Bomb — Richard Rhodes (josephnoelwalker.com) Pairs great with another long interview with the same author but that isn't too redundant: https://www.dwarkeshpatel.com/p/richard-rhodes
  3. The main difference between Matt and Alex is that Matt is a sleep scientist who has dedicated his life to studying the issue, he's doing practical work in the lab first hand, is talking to all the other sleep scientists and reading all the literature, his work is reviewed by others and he's highly respected by people with really good BS detectors like Peter Attia, while Alex has never spent much time in the field before spending a few days on Google Scholar cherry-picking stuff. So I think the priors on each shouldn't start from the same point.
  4. I hear good things about the show "Severance" from a few people who's taste I trust, but I haven't seen it yet. Curious if anyone here has..?
  5. In the podcast I just did with Rob, he mentions that they have 250,000 users, about doubling since last year, and they now have paid users and "that's going well too". So it seems pretty successful and not likely to go away any time soon.
  6. I saw it in theater. Not usually my kind of movie, but some friends were going, and I don't regret seeing it. Very very well shot, I love the cinematography. Great music too. And a kind of detective/noir vibe that worked pretty well.
  7. Some recs, I hope I'm not repeating what others have said: In and of Itself (2020) Dune (2021 -- of course!) The French Dispatch (2021 -- for fans of Wes Anderson. Def not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it) CODA (2021 -- was glad to see this get some acclaim, it's a good film, glad more people will see it)
  8. If anyone's curious, I recently did a podcast interview with the CEO and co-founder of Koyfin: https://www.libertyrpf.com/p/koyfin-ceo-and-co-founder-rob-koyfman?s=w It was a fun convo, talked a lot about building the site, challenges of data visualization, future roadmap, etc.
  9. A nice debunking of Alexey Guzey's 'Theses on sleep': https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/sbcmACvB6DqYXYidL/counter-theses-on-sleep
  10. A Fundly page has been set up to raise some money for the Ukrainian Koyfin employees, to help them through this major crisis. I've donated. https://fundly.com/help-koyfin-s-employees-in-ukraine
  11. Looks like the book will be made into a TV series: https://deadline.com/2022/03/doug-liman-russian-corruption-bill-browder-red-notice-1234980037/
  12. Update on the Koyfin team in Ukraine:
  13. Thanks for listening. Yeah, my goal wasn't to do one more interview about just what's in the book and repeat what he did on other podcasts, that's why I linked two others in the post.
  14. I just did a podcast interview with Jimmy, largely about the book and Paypal, if anyone's interested: https://www.libertyrpf.com/p/podcast-6-jimmy-soni-on-the-paypal
