  1. ValueCarl, if you want to bash the New York Yankees you should probably do it on a Redsox Fanpage not on a Yankees Fanpage. So don't be upset if you don't find much support for your perspective here. And using the persecution of Jews by Nazi Germany as a comparison for whatever point you are trying to make probably doesn't help. But hey, you can always go to a Berkshire bashing forum, I'm sure there are some out there. If not, you could always start one. IMO
  2. I think if you're consistently outperforming the S&P by 10-15% per year, you don't need to change a thing, you'll be rich in no time.
  3. Charlie & Warren addressed the Goldman issue extensively at this year's AGM. Charlie also talked about it this year in Pasadena (which was covered as well by OID and can be found in their latest issue). What do you think is a better alternative to the "keep your head down, work hard and don't envy your neighbour" advice, ValueCarl? Should he have said, "in tough times it's best to feel sorry for yourself, just give up and let envy fester?"
  4. Did you notice that BYD jumped 10% overnight in Asia. I'm hoping it will have a similar result here today. Will be interesting to see what happens.
  5. Looks like he sold about $34M worth in five days. http://www.cnbc.com/id/39191524
  6. Interesting article in today's Wall Street Journal about the proposed merger and the founder's daughter Betty Caspers Peters. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704392104575476080692051968.html
  7. What an unbelievably useful website (khanacademy.org). I've been on it for hours. Anyone can benefit from it, especially those with kids. Thanks Parsad.
  8. Parsad, I think you are bang-on as to the reason for the fallout. I also spoke to an author at an airport on my way to the AGM last year and she echoed the exact same sentiments as you when I asked her about Buffett & Schroeder. I think she is perceived as a very childish and petty person. And not only has Buffett not said a single thing about the incident, he invites her back every year to the AGM so she can sign/promote her book at the Bookworm. That, I think, is a perfect example of the difference in the quality of their character.
  9. This is a very smart guy. Whenever I hear him talk I can't help but notice the Buffett influence. One of the things he has learned from Buffett is to use the media to communicate with shareholders, and that's exactly what he did here with the Consuelo Mack interview. He used this opportunity to reassure shareholders that his investments in financials are based on sound theory and that they should not be concerned by what is being said in the media. Unfortunately living in Canada I can't invest in his fund, but I do coattail some of his investments. Great Interview.
  10. Thanks for the info Myth, I will listen to it with my morning tea.
  11. For those of you who follow Bruce Berkowitz as I do, he will be appearing on public television's Consuelo Mac WealthTrack this weekend. Apparently the entire program will be devoted to The Fairholme Fund and its current investment strategy. Should be interesting, Bruce is always open and forthcoming with his investments and the reasons behind them. Show will also be streamed on Wealthtrack.com stating Monday.
  12. There goes my excuse to go to California every spring. Charlie did say at this year's meeting that it was only a matter of time.
