hahaha yeah that sounds like a good plan.

The more people that see Earth from space, the better. The more we learn there is nothing out there to support our survival anywhere but on Earth, the better. We launch people into space but guess what - we are all people in space - existing in a thin film on a blue eyeball we call Earth. Here are some first hand observations and quotes on the subject: http://www.spacequotations.com/earth.html yeah but it will stay expensive for your everyday man. Personally i would pay a lot of money to go to the ISS. I would kill my own mother to go there :D . But most people dont care, and it will stay too expensive untill we get something of value from outside earth, economically.

What stocks will make their owners rich over the next generation?
yadayada replied to JAllen's topic in General Discussion
isnt this an incentive problem. Just get a few together, and reward them with a %? But I guess that would make it more expensive. Also this: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/FindingGreatDevelopers.html And this seems relevant for the discussion http://visual.ly/world-100-people Seems that only 30% access the internet. If you want to make people smarter, getting them acces to the internet should be a priority. And Im suprised that still so many people have no shelter and are starving. But maybe nomads count as no shelter? -
http://www.universetoday.com/111534/spacex-ceo-elon-musk-to-unveil-manned-dragon-space-taxi-on-may-29/ Im curious if we will look back on this in 30 years or so like we look back on the internet in the early 90's. What is actually out there that is really valuable to us if we cheapen spaceflight? If we could launch a decent large sized rocket for very cheap for like 100k, could we set up some sort of space mineral mining project to mine very valuable and rare elements that could be of big use here? Only other thing I could think of is colonizing and try to create an atmosphere on another planet. But most planets in our solar system dont really seem suited for human life. Also heard that if we do mining, a moon base could be very handy. Launch costs from a moon base are many times lower and less complicated then from earth because lower gravity. I thin ksomething like 97% of fuel used to go to mars would be to just take off from earth. Remaining 3% gets you to mars.

was trading at like 5.5x earnings? damn. It pays to buy at those levels when there is a decent chance of growth.

what about any of malone holdings? He still has some years to go. Excellent capital allocator, and they are cheap now. -
I always try to read write ups, blogs etc first. Usually get most of my ideas from other people, that seems to be the most efficient way. Then i do stuff like type industry name followed by 'filetype:pdf' or 'forum' in google. Then I read a bunch of annual reports, look for red flags etc. Read competitor's reports, and i try to read a bunch of quarterly call transcripts on seeking alpha. Sometimes management gives interesting perspectives on the industry there. Then I put all numbers in excel, see what cost structure is compared to competitors, if margins are increasing or decreasing. How cyclical they are. See how they did in 2008-09. When available I read some books from amazon on the industry as well. They can be extremly helpfull if they are available.

what is the exact difference between 1st 2nd and 3rd preferred? I think a lower dividend? But I think so far they actually paid out higher dividends right? Anyway thanks for posting. Are there any other downsides to buying hyundai? AFter minority interests it is trading at 2-3 PE. Which is absurd. Is it really only because buying korean stocks is hard? -

is it preferred tho? they are super cheap. Not the regular one, they are a bit less cheap. -
yeah i had the same thing except i had it earlier. I did the shockwave thing. http://orthopedics.about.com/od/footankle/i/shockwave.htm It is not some alternative medicine, it is actually scientifically proven, and it got rid of my plantar fasciitis in less then a month. Apparantly they damage your foot a bit more or something, and then your body gets triggered to start repairing all the damage.

what brand do you use? I think I have the vivo ones now, but last pair broke down rather easily.

Just watched this: And apparantly hes behind this website: http://www.gapminder.org/ Which is a really neat website actually. Thought i woudl share

the science behind it is that your forefoot is a natural shock absorber. But because we are not used to it, you will hurt your foot if you do it for the first time and you dont build it up carefully, because your feet and calves are too weak at first. A lot of the people claiming this is all bogus dive right into it and then get hurt, because their foot and leg muscles are not used to it. WIth running shoes you land on your heel because of the thick sole, and the sole of the shoe is not enough to absord the shock, so you will get problems with your knees over time, while your natural shock absorbers are not being used and trained. And your knees take a larger blow everytime you land your feet. But if you go almost barefoot, or barefoot, you naturally land on your forefoot. If that is not enough, if you look at most olympic runners, they dont use these thick sole running shoes. Also would our species have really survived all those years if we constantly would have gotten injury's after chasing wild boars and deers in the wild? You would say natural selection would take care of that. Also a tip if you want to do this, build it up very slowly over months. I was out for 6 months because I didnt build it up slowly.

what about korean stocks? I got a basket of hyundai samsung and LG. it seems that is a good bet on Asia, and with the new laws this year minority shareholders will be protected. Especially LG and samsung should profit nicely on the boom of the Asian middle class.. And you can buy all those growing company's for sub 10 PE's. -
I loved this book, it got me interested in running again. I bought those shoes that barely have any soles and got a horrible pain in my foot after a few weeks :D . But once I got over this, he is totally right. if you run like nature intended to, it is actually fun instead of torture. I think one of the guys in this book even invented the running shoe for Nike. But right after that he figured out it was a disaster to go running in it. But I would be very carefull to dive right into it. Your feet will not be used to this new way of running at first, and you have to slowly build it up or your going to have a bad time. And people are actually smarter if they do cardio on a regular basis and are in good shape. According to thsi book at least http://www.amazon.com/Brain-Rules-principles-surviving-thriving-ebook/dp/B0041KLCH0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1401015861&sr=8-2&keywords=brain+rules

I just tried it, google then hit images. That is odd. What does google think BH stands for? Big Hooters? in dutch it stands for bra -
Kraven, I think I won this contest. http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=feye&insttype=&freq=7&show=&time=3 any reward? Yes, you get to tell your friends you bought FEYE at 30 as opposed to 97 three months ago. Actually FEYE wasn't a horrible buy at $97 if you do the math. You take 2013's Free Cash Flow of -$127 million and multiply by -1 to get owners earnings of $127 million. $97 times 145 million shares gets you $14 billion market cap. So 110x times true owners free cash flow for a company whose comps trade at 200-250x FCF. ??? I think Texhong will pop next week. That stock is so ridicilously mispriced.

were talking 50 baggers here. Isnt subprime finance relatively difficult to do on large scale? I know NICK and it seems their strength came from being in a niche and having a lot of knowledge of local area. They did something the larger guys could not do. -
A way to invest in this new possible space race is Gencorp? I was reading about them and saw that they seemed to have 2 competitors. But apparantly these are now all owned by Gencorp :D . edit: Ok so basicly SpaceX makes their own rocket engines, and is actually a reason to not like Gencorp

maybe spaceX if it goes to IPO. Maybe Musk will deliver and it will turn into some giant space exploration company and will begin a new giant space race for colonizing. Like 98% of fuel is used for take off. So once they get the moon base! :D Then once he gets price down he can start mining minerals for relatively cheap. Personally I think Hong Kong market is v interesting. I really think there are some company's trading there now that are probably dirt cheap with amazing management. A lot of people are ignoring that market because 'China corrupt and bubble'. But there must be some diamonds in there. And minority shareholders dont have it as bad as those US traded Chinese stocks. There was something posted about this guy emulating buffett with what he did with berkshire. And Chinese seem to have better work ethic in general. Another one is possibly SNMX. These guys have this process for discovering taste molecules that is pretty groundbreaking, which is far ahead of anything else out there. And most of it doesnt seem to be priced in. Even if current thing with pepsi is not a succes, they could possibly discover some kind of natural sweetener. All insiders at least seem to have relatively large % of their networth in this thing. edit: I see Gencorp seems to have this monopoly type position with rocket engines. So If you think spaceX will be a revolution, maybe Gencorp is an indirect bet on that. Interesting on gencorp: http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/06/16/air-show-gencorp-idUSL5N0ES0ZK20130616 -
Interactive Rent vs Buy calculator from NYT
yadayada replied to Evolveus's topic in General Discussion
basicly young and will likely move, and making a return otherwhise = rent young and will likely move, no investing otherwhise = still rent, for practical reasons mostly young and likely stay but no investing = buy young and likely stay and decent investor = rent older almost always better to buy unless your a good investor. But I think with a large networth if maximizing returns isnt that important buying is better because you dont have hassle and limitations because of landlord. Or wahtever age and regularly posting in SHLD or JCP thread = buy for sure! jk jk :P
