  1. On the subject of food, in my neck of the woods servers who work for tips are actually having a great Winter since other Canadians seem to think like you. Strangely our economy is doing just fine in their absence. And I got a great deal on a beachfront condo when two of your countrymen just couldn't take it anymore. Keep it coming!
  2. For a so-called "centrist" - "not going to the US period" seems like anything but. Just who are trying to punish?
  3. Markets are forward looking(?) Bring new variables into the mix and expect things to remain the same?
  4. Polling tests were outlawed as being discriminatory. I don't think they are but I also think anyone of age should be entitled to vote, and should vote (or otherwise, stop complaining). Government for the people and by the people means just that.
  5. Who is to say who should vote? The way I see it, the problem is NOT ENOUGH people bother to vote. Some of the same people who are often frequently outspoken about political issues on social media. Reconcile that.
  6. Yes, the thinking is not original in that Buffett used overpriced Berkshire shares, an overpriced stock portfolio and high tax rates to his advantage. But it is a good reminder of how much downside risk goes into every investment so that inherited problems are never as bad as they seem to be.
  7. How funny, I too owned shares of Gen RE and of course had no clue about the issues it had at the time.
  8. He does provide a decent explanation of why the General RE acquisition was so valuable despite many today who still believe it was a mistake.
  9. Well, hope she decides to run again. For multiple reasons.
  10. Give credit to those who showed up. Those who didn't evidently felt it was beneath them to honor true American heroes.
  11. Touche. But as US politics go, lame duck Presidents nearly always endure the same fate after the midterm elections. Yawn.
  12. One question: Where were you during the Biden years?
  13. Who fact checks the fact checkers?
  14. I think most people would agree with you. After all, isn't prosperity on everyone's aspiration list?
  15. @gfp The question is, what is the right side, and are there more than just two sides? Fascinating time to be alive. Where are you looking to allocate dollars in an AI world? If anyone here remembers the cartoon "The Jetsons", AI evokes an image of that kind of existence. For my $, I hope it is all of what optimists portend and then some. Could be the main difference between us and possibly more advanced forms of life in a galaxy far away in the vast Universe is that they already developed and use AI.
  16. Interesting read. Seems as if the primary objective of AI might just be to help humans adapt to AI(?)
  17. Yep. Instituted a new policy starting now: No arguments with children.
  18. Read it just to placate you. The Attorney General works for the acting President to further his (or hopefully her - someday) policy goals. Biden is the only individual who could have directed Garland to do, or not do anything. Whatever your point was, its is lost.
  19. Come again? So you're also an expert on constitutional law. Just love this thread.
  20. You see, that's the difference between you and me on this issue. I don't want anyone to "go down" without a full and fair investigation and appropriate charges being brought, as necessary. And I sure don't want to live in a place where people are presumed guilty. Think about it next time.
  21. Oh, so just because there was no political will to "release files" it is OK to brush the whole incident under the rug? Where was this so-called criminal investigation (I didn't hear anything about that) and just who was it that thought people would be prosecuted internally? You seem to have a lot of inside knowledge; please do share.
  22. Funny, but this is the reason mobs are dangerous. Can't even recognize the obvious when it is staring you in the face. BTW, I voted for ICE and given the resistance they encounter in certain places their success has been remarkable. Again, don't expect you to understand or care.
  23. No one here is suggesting that perps shouldn't get prosecuted. Placing all the blame on Trump is just showing your bias.
  24. Wait a minute. Where were you before Trump? Its funny that for our entire history politicians have been promising anything and everything under the sun but all of a sudden Trump comes along and every word is parsed, analyzed and dissected? Give me a break!
