What does it mean when there is a number in italics with a "d" next to it? like so...

/6,982,850/(d)          (can't do italics)

 

I don't know if its a dividend or difference or what

I always thought it means "deficit".

It is "deficit". It is mentioned in the book in one of the first few chapters.
