Guest ajc Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 http://www.amazon.com/Mr-China-Memoir-Tim-Clissold/dp/0060761407 An American, a Brit and an ex-Red Guard raise $400 million from Wall Street in the early 90's and buy up various businesses all over China. Sounds like a bad joke, and much of the time it is (the absurdity of it all, not the book itself). It's a really entertaining read and easy to get through. The stories are wonderful & completely crazy and there are a few moments of sincere-sounding personal insight. At times, the language can be a bit flowery though. There's no value investing focus, but it does give an insider's view of what doing business in China was like in the 90's/early 00's and how basically all of the corporate rules were simply being made up as you went along. I'd recommend it for anyone who is thinking about investing in China or any other developing market.
