No one using any great sources to get smart about an industry or a company quickly?

Does anyone have good sources (magazines, databases, books) that describe companies and or industries similar to the old moody's manuals? So less focus on data, but more on understanding of industry dynamics and company positioning etc. I love e.g. the big IB industry primers but don't have access to those anymore. thanks in advance!

Do you know/use any good tools/softwares to use during the investment research process? For me it's currently a bunch of excels, notebooks, printouts etc. but nothing really structured. So far I only found a few enterprise solutions, which are however not accessible to individual investors.
