Sears Holdings (ticker symbol SHLD) is being reorganized into a new entity called Tears Holdings (ticker symbol THLD).
Chairman Eddie Lampert was quoted as saying that the new entity will be able to "flow freely" now. "No holding back the tears" he said.
Wait - THLD is already taken - so is TEAR). Boo Hoo!

Can somebody please clarify? High inflation rates, social unrest and other issues in Hong Kong would mean that the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) would LOSE value in relation to the US Dollar? Going short would be the right trade, yes?

I hear you on Belltrix management doing the same thing. But what do you make of this article in SA on Bellatrix?
I thought the author made a good case for the undervaluation of BXE in relation to its peers.

If I had a "God lever" that I could pull to eliminate people with bad morals, there would be nobody left on Earth.
First I would start with the child molesters, then murderers, then ... all the way down to people who don't wash their hands after using the toilet, spit on national monuments ... :-)
I could go on but I find it difficult to make a case for objective morality or an "absolute set" of morals.
Just my two cents...

Normally I do not like "return discussions" as well. Primarily because people tell you only about their winners and do not mention their losers. But Eric's story is different. It is - simply put - FASCINATING!!
I do not envy Eric one bit. I am happy for him but I can NEVER do what he did. I have learned a lot from just this one thread.
The best part is - Eric is so down to earth, has a good sense of humor, thinks clearly and is the first one to label his approach as "prudent gambling" as opposed to "prudent investing". It is like watching Roger Federer play tennis when he was at the top of his game. He makes it look easy. It is fascinating. But you can never do it. It serves only to set a new "high water mark" for everyone else. And it is fascinating to watch.
Eric - I cannot thank you enough for responding patiently to everyone's questions and for sharing your philosophy and returns openly.
Sanjeev - thanks for this fantastic board. Truly amazing collection of smart investors (and smart gamblers :- ) )
My biggest lesson from all this is - if you have a super high conviction stock that is highly liquid and promises a 20% return as opposed to a high conviction stock that is not so liquid and promises a 50% return, then go for the former and do not be afraid to use LEAPS or margin buying when the opportunity presents itself.

We are an SEC registered (and FINRA regulated) Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) based in Georgia, USA. As far as I know, US RIA's cannot accept Canadian citizens as clients. Can anyone confirm that this has not changed? Thanks in advance.
