U.S. sock shipments increased in the second quarter from a year earlier, according to the Census Bureau.

very interesting, thnx!

 

socks are a universal consumable staple in non 3rd world western societies, so its encouraging to see the recent uptick.

 

looks like people were willing to tolerate a greater degree of threadbare-ness or holes in their socks there for a while...unless, like me, they had a couple of drawer fulls of extra socks from several xmases past & they finally depleted their reserves.
