@Aurel Ry Cooder is awesome. One of the most underrated guitar players in the R&B genre.

I totally agree. And without him, we probaply wouldn't have Keef rocking with that 5-String Open-G-Tuning.

I really dig this Session, too. GE Smith solo is really good stuff.

Some remote cabin music for the post holiday winter blues stretch 🍻. Went to see Gregory Alan Isakov in Ithaca this past October. Absolutely killed it! vid from the concert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrpDlrLLjCc . Felt bad for Patty Griffin who toured with him. 3/4 of the audience left before her second song....admittedly she's lost it a bit, but damn she's a legend. If you only listen to one of the artists mentioned make it Gregory Alan Isakov. You won't be disappointed.

@Spekulatius A real hottie 👀 Have tickets for this coming Feb. She's touring with the guy from the Civil Wars before they broke up.

Open G and double drop D are my favs.

Peter Frampton used a few odd tunings that he said he got from George Harrison.

Joni Mitchell is the queen of guitar tunings,

Was playing some tracks from my favorite French hottie  Charlotte Gainbrough for my workout today:

This is the title track from the IRM record.

She's terrific and a talented actress as well!  I would recommend anything with Karen O and Danger Mouse as well.  Arguably one of the great front women of all time...formerly of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  Cheers!

Yes, Open-G sounds very country-ish.

Love the double drop D like on "Ohio" from Neil Young.

Ever tried DADGAD-Truning? It's quite fun.

@boilermaker75 Oh man, this sound like fun. They are a bit stiffer and the voices aren’t as crisp as they were in younger years, but these grandpas are still rocking.

I am a big fan of Pete Townshends solo work. The record “ White city” is one I like and used to play often. It’s got a sharp bite but also tunes that stay with you. Back on my playlist it is:

I've had Big Yellow Taxi on my "to learn" list forever.

I put back a lot of her catalogue on my playlist after I watched the movie “Coda” (which is a great movie). Ironically, I didn’t know the song “Both sides now” before. I was familiar with her later work “Hejira” and of course “Blue” and others . Many of songs are pure genius and there really is no one quite like it.

@Spekulatius

Daltry’s voice is gone. He sang Won’t Get Fooled Again too many times!

But it was still fun. Townshend can still play the guitar, but he cannot jump anymore. I don’t know if he got both feet off the ground whenever he tried to!

I am a huge Who fan, so I don’t know why I am not more familiar with Townshend’s solo work. I am going to give White City a listen. Thanks for the recommendation.

That's right up my alley! I recently got a Studiologic Numa 2 organ, and have finally found a great Hammond B3 instructor. He started out as a drummer and brings a percussive aspect to the organ. Our first lesson revolved around thinking of the keys as a set of bongos for some great percussive slap techniques.

Will also be continuing jazz proficiency with my old classical instructor.

Stoked for the new year!!!

I might actually be worth playing with in another year...
